You gonna leave Jordan out there to shoot airballs all night and useless on defense???

That is indefensible and as bad as Petras remaining tge starter. Refs totally stole the game but offense was atrocious starting with JBo.

I’ll always appreciate him as a great Hawkeye but he just isn’t the player he was these days.

JBO had a nice run....but he isn't cutting it defensively or offensively. Time for youth movement. Change the
starting lineup.

I would play more Sandfort and see if he kid can get hot. He isn't the defensive liablity that PMAC and
JBO are and he has upside....maybe he would be awful but hard to get worse than JBO recently. Maybe kid
would start making shots. This team needs more consisten 3pt shooting. PMAC...meh....CMAC..nah....ulis can't shoot either...JoeT actually the best of the bunch on offfense, at least he can get his own shot.

BEFORE THE GAME, and you can look it up, I said the starting lineup at Rutgers should be:

Sandfort
Toussaint
Rebraca
Kris Murray
Keegan Murray

I can't say enough about the great things JBo has done as a Hawkeye. His clutch threes have saved Iowa time after time, BUT it's clear that something's wrong this season. Maybe the hip surgeries, I don't know, but his stroke isn't there, and his confidence has disappeared. His misses are what you might see from old men playing at the rec center--air balls and bricks. It's not like a run of bad luck where his shots are popping in and out. Add to that he was a mismatch on defense and, well, sorry to say, but he shouldn't have been out there much last night.

That's why I had Sandfort in the starting lineup. He's much bigger than JBo, is a better defender, is healthy, and he's a 3-point shooter with the ability to drive as well. The little he played last night, I don't think he took a shot and maybe only touched the ball once. That's not smart basketball.

I think Fran should use this starting lineup Saturday vs. PSU but, of course, he will not. He seems to be as stubborn as KF. PMac has some skills and should play, but he should not start over Kris Murray. Period. And JBo should come off the bench the rest of the season, and only when the matchup is reasonable.

BTW: Iowa was screwed by the refs again last night, and everybody knows it. The TV crew, Rutgers, casual fans . . . We're always told by the high-minded in these situations that, sure, Iowa got screwed, but you have to overcome those things. Well, I'd like to see the OTHER team have that opportunity for a change. How about that?

And I'd like so SEE the "indisputable video evidence" the refs came up with at halftime to steal two points from Joe T and the Hawkeyes. I have a 65-inch screen, and there's no way in hell I could see any evidence that the call on the floor should be overturned. And neither could anyone else except, of course, for the three geniuses the Big Ten calls "refs."

As for that "foul" with two seconds left: Blatant cheating and/or incompetence. Change those two calls, and Iowa wins by two instead of losing by two. I've been watching this bullshit for years, and I don't get as livid about it as I used to, but it's a damn shame to have games stolen and the Big Ten just ignore it. Let me know when it happens to Tom Izzo, Matt Painter, or that guy at Wisconsin. I won't hold my breath.

If you shoot air balls then you better at least play defense. That was the point...
And they only allowed 48 points…NOBODY was good on offense last night.

whether that was due to the offenses being bad, defenses showing up, refs allowing physical play, or all of the above I don’t know.

Sandfort got 2 minutes. I will keep saying this Fran is the worst in game coach I have ever seen. it was clear to everyone watching the game that JBo was the weakest link on our team, He couldn’t get his shot off because he’s slow and short. They isolated him on the defensive end and they scored every time. Shocking I know! What does Fran do, keeps playing him. He’s JBo our hero from 6 years ago!
I can promise you if Sandfort got 28 minutes last night, we win that game going away!

This was about as bad as the 2013 Big Ten Tournament vs Sparty...now I'm really angry again!

Well, no, they didn’t score every time. Iowa adjusted and got help to Jordan better when that was happening.

I like Peyton, he looks very promising. But that’s a tough game and environment to throw a true frosh and expect big things out of. The bench in general was not good last night.

It won't happen because its Fran but its about 3 years past time to move off jbo and let the younger guys get most of his minutes.

He missed 4 wide open 3s last night. You can't have that many misses by your 3pt specialist in a game like that.

Agree

PS not getting minutes while Jbo is out there is a little bit infuriating. Even as a Frosh he gives you something that probably wins that game for you.

IMO FM is a terrible manager of player's time during games. He has his pre-game plan and come hell or high water that is what he is going to do. I just think he is a lazy game coach and plays favorites to the detriment of the team. FM is a very mediocre coach, and he appears to be okay with that IMO.

The bench was terrible, but when you've got a starter supposed to be contributing outside shooting but failing at that and is at the same time probably the worst defender on the team considering his position it begs the question as to why he gets so many minutes. Agree with the argument that Sandfort deserved more minutes to see if he could knock some down.

I see lots of complaints along the nature of Fran's coaching in this game being indefensible, he should retire, JBO is terrible and why is he in there...etc...etc.

We lost by TWO POINTS in the same place that highly ranked Purdue got beat by TWO POINTS.......I think it's perfectly legit to question, second guess, state different strategies that sound reasonable (in hindsight) but it seems like we're hearing a lot of "drama queen" stuff here.

JBO....more 3 pointers than anyone in B10 history, noted for having hit game winning shots during his career, and having him out there is "indefensible" during crunch time? A great free throw shooter, really?

Fran is so terrible that he has a number of 20 win seasons and first division finishes in the B10......terrible? No, of course not...common sense. Could he be better, of course. Reality brings credibility as far as I'm concerned.

Why so dramatic?

This is laughable. So because JBo has had a good career he gets the benefit of the doubt and has the green light when he’s obnoxiously struggling? In game adjustments be damned. Shoot your way out of it, right. Meanwhile they’re posting him up because we’ll he stinks at defense. They’re just lucky Rutgers couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn last night from < 3 feet.

So Rutgers ability to get to 46 points (48- last two FT) has nothing to do with Iowa defense? It's just that they had a poor shooting night? But Iowa's poor shooting night was due to_______? I guess I don't see the logic.

Posts like these convince me half of y’all don’t understand the game of basketball.

JBo was getting good shots, shots he’s made his whole career. The guys who would eat into his minutes (Uhlis, TP) looked rattled, unconfident, and constantly lost on offense. I love Uhlis and TP, too. They’ll both be fantastic players for us before they leave Iowa City - but it was clear early on that they were being disrupted by the physicality of the game. JBo had a calmer presence. End of day we were right there with a team who’s hot and really, really good at home. Had the worse officiating call in the past 10 years not been made, we likely win in OT. Even with last nights loss, this team is still exceeding preseason expectations. Lot of ball left. Just enjoy the season and stop always looking to blame a player or coach for a loss. Shit gets old.

Does Jordan even practice anymore? He’s just been worse than awful.
Worst. Bohannon. Ever.

yes, I'd like to see this.... Sandfort needed more PT earlier in season to get him ready for B1G play.

The problem with Sandfort/Kris both playing is that neither is a pure guard in terms of ball handling.
