To be fair, the fully healthy roster could have maybe hit 20 wins. Pre-season probably didn’t expect to have to start Mulvey against ranked Wisconsin and Purdue at home.

Disagree. NCAA was definitely still possible prior to Purdue game when he went out. If they could have beaten Purdue and Wisconsin (both games were tied or Iowa had the lead at half, then they ran out of gas and lacked quality bench players due to the aforementioned injuries), they would have been squarely on the bubble at 15-8, 6-6, with some quad 1 wins and a strong quad 2 record and a reasonable NET.
And yeah, I know “ifs and buts,” but the point is they weren’t out of Tournament contention at that point.
