His whole family lives in Indy. He can get out before he's fired (I don't think Beth would fire him quite yet) and maybe even negotiate himself a way to still get some sort of buyout
so why not just be fired and paid out? he can get 4.2 million of the 11.65 if he is canned. His whole family lives in Indy. He can get out before he's fired (I don't think Beth would fire him quite yet) and maybe even negotiate himself a way to still get some sort of buyout
It is beginning to feel like Lick's last season. Even Lick had a pretty decent recruiting class put together with Brust and Larson, I can't remember if Marble was a Fran recruit or Lick.
Correct. Lick’s class was going to be Marble, Brust, Larsen, and Zach McCabe. Brust and Larsen jumped ship with the coaching change, and Fran added Melsahn Basabe and Bryce Cartwright to go along with Marble and McCabe.Lick recruit that Fran was able to retain if I remember correctly

Gesell?Seems like a lifetime ago, but also just yesterday at the same time. Is Cartwright still the best PG Fran ever recruited?
Gesell?
Bohannon not a true PG.Definitely in the conversation and this may be divisive, but I’ll put Bohannon in there.
Would you walk away from $4 million?
NopeWould you walk away from $4 million?
Take it FWIW, a guy I know--who bats around .500 with this stuff (LOL!) said there is an agreement in place for Fran to step down at the end of the year and take a fraction of the buyout. Both sides agree there's no more juice left to squeeze.
.....supposedly.
Couldn't get into the paint and break down the defense for easy score opportunities.I always hear that Bohannon is or was not a true PG. That's totally wrong. He wasn't a good defender at the point guard position. But he was a really good PG in taking care of the ball, running the offense, and scoring.
I hope this brings his average up…Take it FWIW, a guy I know--who bats around .500 with this stuff (LOL!) said there is an agreement in place for Fran to step down at the end of the year and take a fraction of the buyout. Both sides agree there's no more juice left to squeeze.

If you have to pick one position, JBo was a 2-guard.If he's not a true point guard what is his true position?
Jordan tried that position every year and couldn't get open and get his shot off. He thrived at the point guard position. The team averaged 80 points a game. Yes he couldn't get into the paint to break the defense down. But his range gave guys like Garza plenty of room to work.If you have to pick one position, JBo was a 2-guard.
But really he was a combo guard or a tweener
Doesn't make him a true PGJordan tried that position every year and couldn't get open and get his shot off. He thrived at the point guard position. The team averaged 80 points a game. Yes he couldn't get into the paint to break the defense down. But his range gave guys like Garza plenty of room to work.

You're both correct.Jordan tried that position every year and couldn't get open and get his shot off. He thrived at the point guard position. The team averaged 80 points a game. Yes he couldn't get into the paint to break the defense down. But his range gave guys like Garza plenty of room to work.
Correct. Not really a PG or a 2.You're both correct.
Jbo wasnt really a pg but Frans offense doesn't need a real pg, especially with a Garza.
Jbo worked well for Frans offense at that position.
I’m sure if you go look at stats you’ll find that he wasn’t even leading assistant man on the team.Couldn't get into the paint and break down the defense for easy score opportunities.
And defending at the point of attack is part of true PG play
He’ll get something. He also has enough money that quality of life is more important.Would you walk away from $4 million?
I think you would probably be wrong. I believe he’s the school leader in career assists. Granted he had some extra time to do it. His first couple years I think he avg over 5/gmI’m sure if you go look at stats you’ll find that he wasn’t even leading assistant man on the team.
Months ago I said he will end up in Indy as a consultant. Lots of former Hawks here. His whole family lives in Indy. He can get out before he's fired (I don't think Beth would fire him quite yet) and maybe even negotiate himself a way to still get some sort of buyout
His game behavior indicates this could be accurate. Let's hope so. Also, given young DeVries injury/surgery and redshirt for next year could support a deal is done as well. But, all that is definitely a big swag on my part.Take it FWIW, a guy I know--who bats around .500 with this stuff (LOL!) said there is an agreement in place for Fran to step down at the end of the year and take a fraction of the buyout. Huh? He got plenty of shots off. Prolific 3 pt shooter, one of the best ever.Jordan tried that position every year and couldn't get open and get his shot off. He thrived at the point guard position. The team averaged 80 points a game. Yes he couldn't get into the paint to break the defense down. But his range gave guys like Garza plenty of room to work.
Somebody I know personally, very very personally, has been saying this since November.Take it FWIW, a guy I know--who bats around .500 with this stuff (LOL!) said there is an agreement in place for Fran to step down at the end of the year and take a fraction of the buyout. Both sides agree there's no more juice left to squeeze.

Yes! His demeanor, specifically, leads me to believe there might be smoke here. His game behavior indicates this could be accurate. Let's hope so. Also, given young DeVries injury/surgery and redshirt for next year could support a deal is done as well. But, all that is definitely a big swag on my part.
Agree, I also agree the easy answer for Frans best pg is Thelwell.Correct. Not really a PG or a 2.
But the original conversation point was about PG's. So given Bohannon got mentioned, it must be noted that he was not a true PG
I think what he’s saying, and i agree, jbo struggled playing off the ball, running off screens and catch and shooting. He was most effective shooting off the bounce and having the ball in his hands.Huh? He got plenty of shots off. Prolific 3 pt shooter, one of the best ever.
