Fran's staredown proves my point. He's a blowhard.

The prior incidents when it looks like he wants to go after the official but the staff holds him back. Reminds me of a junior high kid acting tough but knows full well that others are there to prevent a confrontation.

Fast forward to today. Staff isn't holding him back. Fran doesn't act tough. Fran doesn't try to advance on the official.

He's a blowhard.

I think Fran knows exactly what he’s doing. His players like him and know how intense he is. At that point in the game, I don’t think he realistically thought Iowa would actually come back, but he knows there’s always a next game, and he has to keep showing his guys he’ll continue fighting for them. In turn, his guys see this and want to keep fighting too. Today is proof of that.

What an idiot…..and I don’t mean Fran! I think it’s an awesome way to make a point with out saying anything. The game definitely turned at that point. Keep up the good work Fran!

He already had one T at this point. If Fran even blinked wrong there, he’s gone from the game.

I agree Fran wanted to make a statement and that’s about the best he could do given the circumstances. Props to the players for responding.

Iowa just had one of the biggest comebacks in NCAA history and people would rather bitch about Fran than be happy about the win. I don't get it
Sadly, for us watching the game on TV, what is MOST memorable moment of the game was "the stare down"......It was a helluva comeback.....but I haven't seen a stare down like this...since "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly".......was Sergio Leone at the game today? Was Ennio Marricone directing the pep band today?

If the stare down was the most memorable of a remarkable comeback like that, you’re doing something wrong.

So thats are only option. A coach who sits on his ass, and does no in game coaching, or a guy who runs around looking like his head is going to explode, and hurls obsenities at the refs.....swell...

Nice to know you’re a fan of hyperbole.

Stick to trashing dems with tucker headlines.

Fran is the man. Any Hawkeyes bitching about him are clueless and know nothing about the game or the history of Iowa hoops. The guy wins, plus he holds the officials accountable for ruining the college game. There is nothing worse in American sports than college basketball officiating and it’s not even close.

Fran would be a top coach in the league if he swallowed his pride and hired a defensive assistant coach to remedy one of worst defenses year after year. That’s the only thing holding them back.

Great comeback today!!

I bet he'd kick your ass. I have no idea who you are but odds would favor Fran both in size and intensity. You would not have the courage to call him blowhard to his face. Amiright?

Let's give this an asterisk*, or maybe just ignore the female football official who cut her chops watching games and putting her own spin on what constitutes "unnecessary roughness" 😀

I am convinced Northern is a masochist who derives sexual pleasure from being humiliated publicly. It is the only rational explanation for his posting style.

A coach yelling or staring an official down? Never seen it before, lol.
Sure, but every person who watched that said clearly, They'd never seen that before. Coach calls a timeout, (having not called one the whole game), bypasses the team and walks directly to the ref on the sideline and posts himself several feet away for the glare down. Then he walks forward several steps and continue the glare down. The funny part was when the ref took two steps toward Fran and remained stoic staring back at him. I'd actually love to have someone interview the ref and ask him his thoughts.
