Free throws & rebounding

Nothing more to say. Refs did a great job btw & we got more than our fair share of calls.

I thought the refs were too ticky-tacky and definitely benefited Iowa. Yes, free throws and rebounding. They had a great run in the middle, looked fluid and strong.

I really agreed with V, which hurts my brain, but they needed to go in to Woodbury.

Don't forget the very unsuccessful zone that Fran played the majority of the 1st half. The man to man was much better in the second half. This team just needs to regroup and beat the teams there suppose to the rest of the way out and they'll be in the hunt for a Big Ten championship.

Free throws were certainly the difference. That situation called for a complete performance on the road and we played a C+ game.

I guess we're not as good as the other teams that have gone on the road and beaten Maryland or Indiana this year. No shame in this, we can take the last 6 again.

I am of the opinion that Fran does not make good use of his time outs and feel it has cost Iowa some wins over the years. That is how Fran has always done it, but I hope at some point he re-evaluates his strategy in this regards. The way the team has been missing ft's lately, you had to know it would eventually come back to bite them. Even with all the negatives in this game from an Iowa standpoint, the starters still had a chance to win the game, even with a completely non-existent bench (which doesn't bode well for next year).

If Iowa and Indiana both shoot their season averages for free throws, the game is either in overtime or Iowa wins. I actually don't think the team played that poorly. I think that was our B+ game and that was IU's A- game. Comparatively, in our loss to Maryland I don't think we played well at all, and neither did Maryland.

Last night's game doesn't change my opinion of this team at all. They are a legitimate National Championship contender, but there are many teams that can beat them. There is a lot of parity in college basketball this year, and I have no idea what will happen in the tournament. What I do know, is that this team can beat any team in the country and on a neutral court I'd like our chances against virtually any team.

@SteveDeaceShow sent me this: Iowa 22-38 free throws combined @ Maryland & Indiana = 58%. Iowa shoots 73 percent for the season.

that is the whole reason Iowa lost to both teams. FT's are HUGE in tight ball games and we are not good at shooting them in crunch time.
