Per Twitter the university is giving free tickets to students. Even if just 1/4th of yhe student body claim a ticket thats what 5-7,000 students. Does the UI have that many unsold tickets for the game? Furthermore, more when something is free and there is no investment, students sometimes don’t care. I can see a ton of kids securing a free ticket and simply not show up. Meaning tons of empty seats.

With the cost of going to Iowa, every student should have an athletic card that admits them to Football games, set a limit, Basketball games, and all other sports. Iowa would not go broke if they did this. Barta is so lame.
No. I thought with the importance of today’s women's game, this could’ve been the game OP was referring to.
That’s why you don’t issue an actual ticket. Have students sign up and check their ID at the door. Make it known that the sign up list will be longer than the actual number of students admitted to the game to account for no-shows. When the allotted number is reached, that’s it. Maybe a few dozen who signed up late don’t get in, but they knew that was a possibility.
To put it in terms the University can understand, if a student doesn’t sign up early enough, they get waitlisted for admission to Carver.
