Fresno St. hires new assistant coach

I read that Troy Steiner announced that Israel Silva was recently hired on as the new assistant coach for the bulldogs. He was recently an assistant for George Mason and if I recall a one-time Hawkeye recruit who didn't pan out. If memory serves academic eligibility was the issue.

I think he was an assistant for Bono with Andrew Sorensen at SDSU.

Correct. Prior to his assistant coach job with GM, he was with the Jackrabbits.

The Faux Tom Brands twitter didn't care for the hire. Any history there?

Didn't Bono fire him after the 1st year at SDSU or am I mistaken.
