From Media Day

Davis hasn't said anything worth noting since he came to Iowa City. This statement is an example. But even if he calls exactly the same plays as last year, the execution will be very different with a real QB executing those plays rather than a game manager/checkdown artist. So no, GD, the offense will not look the same. And maybe he's just trying to low-key it. That, or he's as dumb as most of us believe he is. :)

What's he supposed to say? Or do? Play all his cards on day one? If the offense is different, I don't know any reason he would talk about it right now.

You do realize Beathard checked down at a higher rate than Rudock did right?

Some will never understand the pure genius of GDGD.
Like his first year where the team wasted 100's hours of practice time working on the qb read option only to run it about 3 times in the season (seriously ran it about 50% of the plays in the spring game or whatever it was that year). That was obviously a set up for all the opposing defenses.
Of course when underclass db's pick six against us and then say "we knew what the routes would be....." or something like that it's again setting up big plays down the road.
When he puts up 17 vs possibly one of the worst D1 Defenses (ISCC) that was just to save it all up for the conference run.
Anyway - I think he's been pretending to be a complete horses ass and look overmatched as a buildup to 2015.

@hawkeyegamefilm: One more stat for Iowa QBs in '14, YIA(yards-in-air) percentage for each QB: JR - 55%, CJB - 68%,smallish sample but matches eye test

Looks like JR checked down and benefited from YAC yards...

I think with the Lickification of Iowa Football, you might want to create a little buzz for fans and recruits, jmo

That's interesting got a link?
Nope. Just lots of discussion and watching film myself. I was a Rudock supporter but am excited for Beathard. I think he is better than Rudock but the misnomer that the offense is gonna be different is crazy. You can blame it on not having 1st team reps, but Beathard checked down just as much last year when he played.
