Fun fact about tonight…

…when the ball drops the 2020s decade will be over half way done. We will be closer to 2030 than 2020. Also, for bonus depression points we will shortly be closer to 2050 and than 2000!!!

Seems like this decade has snuck up with us between Covid nightmare, insurrections, Iowa and FSU struggles on offense, and the war in Ukraine….honestly a lot of people have 2020 and 2021 all jumbled into one year. I know I do.

Jeeeebus, I remember ALL the OT I was paid in preparation for “Y2K” and the computer disaster that was imminent when the calendar rolled over! I’ll bet I picked up an extra $500 or more because I worked “scheduled OT” those weeks before D-Day! And all those computer tech guys founding around all over…….shit, the hospital paid a fortune for that Pepsi!

You are being intentionally TJish. Pretty sure most people understood the point I was making which was in the context of talking about starting and end points of decades. The 2020s are shortly halfway over and we will be closer to 1/1/30, the start of 2030s than 1/1/20 the start of 2020s…
You can bicker and argue with the others about when decades and millenia and whatnot start. I don’t care about any of that. I’m simply pointing out, quite accurately, that your statement that tomorrow “We will be closer to 2030 than 2020” is not correct. For the next six months we will still be closer to 2020 than we are to 2030.

You don’t have to like that fact, but it’s still a fact.

Ah…… but when does the decade “start”? I would think the decade starts in the “1” year and not the “0” year…I believe I heard this discussed on NPR or some such thing regarding “Y2K” and the 21st century. The consensus was that the new century (the 21st) would start on 1/1/21 not when the year changed fron 1999 to 2000.
I hate to agree with Joel but he is right. Good luck getting people to agree or even understand your point though. 2000 was the big deal not 2001.

Only clown in this post bickering and trying to make some stupid argument is you, TJ.

Happy New Year everyone.

Lol. You made an incorrect statement and I corrected it. Today is 1/1/2025 and we are still closer to 2020 than we are to 2030. That’s not a ‘stupid argument’, that’s a fact.

Two years from now, the United States celebrates its 250th. Apparently, that is called the Semiquincentennial. Quincentennial is 500, so Semiquincentennial optimistically says we're halfway there. Years ago, Congress established the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission to plan the celebration. This was posted on 7/4/24

Don’t ever change man.
Don’t worry, I’ll continue posting verifiable facts.

Happy New Year.
