Gambling news: ISU attorneys file motion to suppress

Why are we so fixated on people getting money and from the state none the less? Some rogue people with a grudge did this and we want the taxpayers to pay. Why? Fire the guys who are guilty or whatever, but do not take the innocent taxpayers money.
This is a slippery slope. Every time someone takes a person to court and loses, should the other person be able to sue them? What happens next is the DA will fix cases (they already do) to get the win. More innocent people will be in jail then.
The kids did something wrong. (albeit in most cases - it was minor) The NCAA got their panties in a bunch. ( maybe to stop the activity from spiraling out of control and sending a message) The legal system has gotten them off the hook. Their lives were disrupted. They learned a lesson. We all have learned some lesson. Overall, it sucks - which is what happens when a person with power abuses it.
Let's move on.

This has been debated pretty heavily in this thread already. Worth reading the prior pages.

The consensus is that the guilty individuals should be fired, held criminally liable, financially penalized, etc. But that's unlikely due to corruption, so vote accordingly to hold them accountable. At least a civil trial should lead to punitive damages which hopefully prevents the behavior from occurring again and is a method of protecting all citizens' rights and civil liberties. You complain about the taxpayers suffering the consequences, which is valid, but the taxpayers are also the voters responsible for electing the guilty parties. The taxpayers therefore have some culpability. If you don't like it, vote them out.

Moving on without any form of accountability isn't an acceptable outcome.

oh yeah i’m sure if the state/government has no consequences for violating constitutional rights and getting caught they will learn their lesson…

no, if there is no impediment then why would they stop? sure we fire the person who did it and the upper echelon who approved can continue on to cross the next line.

Iowa Law Enforcement that approved the illegal capture of info needs to pay.

Start with the AG and work their way down or start with the DCI and work your way up.

Makes no difference, but hold officials accountable.
The Iowa Governor was on stage when this story broke to the media. She needs to be held to a higher standard.
And ship her to Rockwell City if she's got a hand in this.
She already knows what the inside of a jail cell looks like.

Consequences for the state monetarily are needed to ensure they implement systems that foster an environment in which the constitution is upheld. Don’t be angry at the people going after the state monetarily for violating their rights. If you’re angry vote against the state AG that allowed it.

Those innocent taxpayers elected some of the fools in charge of the dumbasses who messed this up. At least throw those bums out and vote in another new set of bums.
I don't care about the money as much as I care that those who targeted our wrestlers (and not others) get what they deserve. An apology (and some damaged DCI careers) would be okay with me, but If money is the only way justice happens, then so be it. You can't convince me that many, many more D-1 athletes never bet on sports last year, but those weren't investigated, but only some were targeted. I'd like to know why our guys were targeted.

Shit they cherry picked just the ones they charged at iowa and Iowa st. If they would’ve charged everyone they could have, iowa and Iowa st wouldn’t have had football teams last year. Some coaches would be done too

The Governor of this State and the idiot AG were happy as hell to try and embarrass the public universities after all the criticism that the Iowa and ISU leaders gave Terrace Hill about education funding in the past.
That's why Reynolds and BirdBrain need to be held responsible.
