Right after that, you could feel Iowa noticeable react to that 11 point lead with some seriously lackadaisical defense. Soon as that first 3 fell to make it a 8 point game Fran should have called a timeout and brought in Murray, Toussaint and Perkins.

Even watching on tv is was plain as day the Iowa players on the floor let down their guard, not that is was much of a guard to begin with but still...

You're right, because the defensive energy was good up to that point.

We missed 8 free throws, and didn’t rebound. I thought we settled for three too quickly once we got up eleven. A couple were a little more contested then the ones we knocked down.

They did the same thing against Indiana.
Like I said, this team lacks fortitude.

They don't like defense, they're all in love with shooting and think they don't really need to try on the other end.

You could tell when they went up 11 that they thought they were going to cruise to a win and basically let OSU shoot unguarded the rest of the game.

I think Garza forced alot tonight

Agree but what is he supposed to do? When he is double teamed someone has to be open but they are all standing beyond the arc and he has no passing angles. I know they can't play better defense so not asking for that, but please shit can the dribble hand off crap. That stuff works in high school not in the big ten. You drag a defender right into the pocket every time and it fools absolutely no one.

I agree with the OP. Seems like every time we lose there's a point where you think... shit, were gonna lose! For me, tonight it was right after the 11 point lead. Damn I'm getting tired of watching shitty defense!

I believe they shot three straight threes within the first ten seconds of three possessions after they went up 11

Shot selection wasn't very good. Not sure, but that the OSU banked 3-ball might have been in there.

Fran needs an intervention. Some of those lineups he puts out have horrendous defense. I thought before the season started that Fran would play JoeT/ Perkins in the rotation and use man-to-man defense at least as a changeup. Ulis also looks like he is good man defender.

He does play some man with the small starting lineup he uses, but they are all horrendous defenders and man is even worse than zone for that lineup.

That would require a competent game coach. Something we don't have.

The defense was allowing 3 pt shots that were so wide open & uncontested that most people on this board could have made them. Let's stop giving another opponent that we should have beat credit. OSU is a good team, but not that good.

Today that point was around the 7:50 left in the 2nd half.
