Anyone have any suggestions for a place to watch the game in D.C.? First time out there and know nothing about the area. I won't have access to T.V. where I will be staying so will need to find somewhere to go. Thanks!

Well if you want to make the drive two hours to Richmond you can watch it at my place. Beers in the fridge and I'll have the butler make some snacks.

But if you really want to have a good time the DC I-Club are a bunch of low life degenerate drinkers who love kicking ass and watching Hawkeye Football. From their website: "Gamewatches are held in Virginia at Crystal City Sports Bar and downtown at Public Bar."

Thanks IOA. Looks like the Public Bar isn't too far from where I'll be staying. Although butler snacks do sound good.

I'm coming to your place! I've heard though that they often have a beer band made of up former band members that plays all the appropriate music to make for the ideal game watch experience.

There are two "official" game watch locations for Iowa sports in Washington, DC. The one you've already identified, Public, is located just south of the DuPont Circle metro station. The crowd there tends to be younger and seating is somewhat limited, but it's certainly the more social of the two locations. We also have to occasionally share the space with other schools, but the sound is always on the Iowa game. I might be there myself on Saturday, although my record at Public is probably something like 2-8 so it's going to be a game time decision for me.

Crystal City Sports Pub is, not surprisingly, in Crystal City, an Arlington subdivision. The crowd there tends to be older (and angrier) and more focused on the game. There's also a few alumni band members that bring their instruments and play the fight song.

I went to the Crystal City game watch with the DC Area I-Club for the Debacle in the Desert while visiting my brother's family.
Considering the already late KO, the rain delay, and the score it was a good atmosphere.

1600 Pennsylvania Ave. However don't go during Mooslim prayer hours. Word on the street is the owner of the house has all the electric devices turned off during prayer time.
