Garbage man pays well these days

I wouldn't assume that low-wage or no-wage people are all on drugs if that's where you're going.
I didn't assume that just like i didnt assume you meant all doctors and lawyers were drug users. Wendy said many people applying for $15 an hour jobs can't pass drug tests. I was more pointing out $15 an hour is kind of crap pay now as it equates to $31,200 a year which basically means you are scraping the bottom of the labor pool bucket.

$15 per hour is more than twice the federal minimum wage.

You realize that drug users simply abstain from using drugs when they're looking for a job, don't you? And then after the drug test, it's PARTY TIME!

Unfortunately that is not true. Working in HR for a company in Eastern Iowa we see about a 20% fall out rate after job offers at $16 to start with good benefits. We also probably submit offers to about 10% of applicants.

20 percent fail the drug test, but you don't know how many people "passed" by abstaining or otherwise cheating the test.

Try finding seasonal ag workers in small town Iowa, Colorado, Michigan and New York state for $15-20 hr...its impossible. If a job means hard work hardly anyone wants to do that anymore.

Quite honestly I can support paying garbage people 100k over many other "office" jobs (read: glorified paper pushers) filled with an entitled lazy ass with a below average degree.

It's tough to find. It's also tough to find people who can pass a drug test for a $15/hr (plus great benefits) factory job in small town Iowa.

When an employee complains about the amount they get paid, they are told they pay what the market dictates and get more skills in order to obtain a higher paying job.

I love it when companies complain that they cannot find anybody to fill their jobs. if you cant fill a job, maybe the pay and/or benefits should be increased to make the position more desirable.

Granted, if the government didn't coddle welfare leeches and reward them for doing nothing, there may be more people available/willing to take that $15/hr job.
