Gavin Teasdale interviewed on Flo

Optimist me says Lee truly is that good already and brings to the table a style which DD wants to familiarize himself with before the games.

Cynic me says DD already has the workout partners he needs in his coaching staff and is inviting Lee more to help him by letting him see the stage he could be competing on in four years for free now.

I like optimist me better.

Us rushing to finals.

I had no idea Goose, Harvey Milk and Rocky Dennis were Hawk fans.

Listened to IAWrestle's podcast today...holy shit it causes some optimism. Lee already hanging with Gilman and Clark? If Dennis is taking him to Rio, then DD must think a whole hell of a lot of him because a medal is on the line. Unless Lee is self-funding and DD is taking multiple guys.
Also was mentioned that teasdale was doing well, not quite as good as Lee was but he was able to have some success against all of the other 3. Then add in Jrent and Mejia into the picture, all of them are going to make eachother so much better in the room. Iowa's lightweight situation is going to be scary good for the next 5-6 years.

Good thing is Lee can come right in and start, Mejia can shirt...the next Lee could shirt and Meija or Jack Wagner can take his place. Teasdale can shirt and move up to 141 if he has the size. JRent can shirt. Gives some great options. In 2017-2018, let Lee go until Midlands to see how he's doing. At this point, I'm just rambling

I don't think there is anything to be cynical about. Lee is obviously a pretty accomplished young man, and they very may well be "rewarding" him for his commitment and saying you're part of our future and we want to do whatever to make you keep feeling wanted, etc.

I don't however feel as though they'd do that just for the hell of it, if it was detrimental to Dennis's goal of winning the Olympics (which is a tough road to hoe no matter who your workout partners are - and he's got plenty of them besides Spencer Lee).

As long as it's all legal, I don't see a downside to showing the kid some Hawkeye "love".

The Brands Bros love Spencer Lee. They don't love him enough to derail DD's chance at a gold if they didn't think he would help him.

I lol at this kind of thought that actually, matters in the least. Had this argument with Foley last year when Burroughs picked Mark Hall for his training partner for worlds. Someone speculated he was using it for recruiting, and Foley said jb would never hurt his chances at winning a gold by picking anyone other then the person who gives him the best chance of helping him preform his best. That statement would be true if it really mattered, who helps you warm up. JB would preform the exact same if he warmed up with one of about 300 guys. He also has his personal coaches and other teammates there to help him prepare.

Same with Dennis, he will have Tom and Terry, at the camps plus most of the alternates. The training at the tournament site is basically non existent. Spencer will mostly be drilling and helping dd get warmed up. Does anyone really think his performance would be better with Spencer drilling with dd, or Gilman, or Clark, or Metcalf. It wouldn't be better or worse no matter who he was getting him warmed up.

In both cases, with Spencer going to Rio and Mark Hall helping jb at the worlds, it is a valuable look for two guys that have world and Olympic dreams. They get an inside look and see with their own eyes the challenges, on and off the mat, that they will have to deal with down the road, to be Olympic and world champions. When it is their turn to preform, they will feel like they have done this before, and know what to expect. This is an awesome opportunity, for these guys, and the real winner will be the USA. This very cool of dd, and jb to understand this, and give these guys this kind of opportunity. Does anyone know Frank taking Zain?

I would like to congratulate Jack Wagner though, on his success in wrestling, especially in his late 50's...after his long career as a soap star and 80's pop balladeer! Who knew?

Hell has officially frozen over. I actually liked a 21 guns post. Hope I don't have a plane fly into the house tonight in some karmic event to even out the world balance.
