Gavit Tip off

I see that. Not sure what SH has coming back, but damn the young team is going to have to grow up in a hurry, with Virginia, Providence/Memphis, ISU, UNI, plus whoever they get in the ACC challenge.

Like it. You want to run with the big dogs you have to be willing to take good teams on. Gets us ready for the B1G.

Looks like Seton Hall gets almost everyone back of significance if Isaiah Whitehead doesn't go pro. Iowa could easily lose 6 games in non-conference and struggle to get a NIT bid.

Seton Hall will be a very tough matchup for the Hawks. However, a team that should pretty easily be top 2 or 3 in the Big East and likely a fairly high tournament seed will be good as far as building experience goes.

Next year I just want to see the young guys get accustomed to games like these and grow together as a team.

I would like to see Iowa schedule a lot of teams that will be between 150 - 250 RPI wise. Teams that wont be push overs but teams our young group can beat. I don't think they will benefit from a bunch of cupcakes around these games against Virginia, Prov/Memphis, ACC team, ISU, Seton Hall and UNI. Of course you will run the risk of what happened to Wisconsin during their non con this last season but I think next years Iowa team can finish the season like last seasons Wisconsin team as well.

So far we have this for the Iowa schedule. 8 of the 12/13 games are spoken for. I'm hoping the remaining few are not all cupcake pushovers. Teams like SDSU, Green Bay, Neb-Omaha would all likely be in the 150-225 sweet spot.

UNI in Des Moines

This is the downfall of a tough schedule in a "rebuilding" year. Lose most or all of the tough non-con games and you could be looking at 7-6 type of record heading into BIG play. That's an uphill battle for sure. I don't think we have the ability (at this point) to pull a Wisconsin and go 12-6 in BIG play. So, I think it will be important to pull an "upset" or two this coming fall.

Seton Hall very well could be the best team we play in our non con next year. They have some very talented sophmores on their team that could take a big step forward.

But like Wisconsin last year, Iowa could take some lumps in the non conference and benefit from the new found maturity in the conference season to close out season on a high note.

If Whitehead comes back then Seton Hall is a top 15 team, could be a top 10 team in the rankings next year.

If Whitehead goes pro they will still be good but will be more of a borderline top 25 team.
