Gennings Dunker Returning for 5th year. George Barnett & the IOWA Offensive Line next season

The OL should continue taking a leap forward next year.

It the Hawks can finally find a decent option at QB they should be able to compete with everyone on their schedule next year save Oregon.
Oregon losses a ton off that roster, 1 returning starter on defense , new DC , half the 2nd string on D are graduating , Lose QB , Entire starting WR corp, 3/5 OL gone, both tackles , starting TE , and the game is in IC , Iowa has a way of every few Years ambushing a Team at Home they have no business beating .

Great point.

I have a feeling next year will be one of those years where Iowa’s brand is actually validated and they have a great year. We will see.

Oregon will have the ability to reload through NIL and recruiting.

Good decision by Dunker. He has the potential to be a 2nd/3rd round pick in 2026 with an All B1G type season next year.

Yes but when You throw a Team together the results are never guaranteed when 30+ Guys have never played together and are expected to fill big roles in a new scheme/program, That said I wish Iowa caught them earlier in the schedule for those exact reasons . Want exhibit A of losing so much in 1 Year - 2024 Michigan

Can someone provide me what this fantastic oline and coach did any time they went up against a legit defense these past 4 years?
Try analyzing it from the point his lineman were physically strong enough to play.

Then consider how the worst QB I've seen take significant snaps in 40 years of closely following the Hawks impacted the situation in '23.

Refer to the "line play" thread. You're welcome

We need to pick up a solid OT in the portal.
Let Gennings move to guard.
Yep.

Iowa needs depth on the OL. Would also love to see them go the JUCO route to find a potential impact receiver if they can’t land one via the portal.

IMO, they have almost no chance of landing a quarterback that will be an upgrade to Sully or Brown, so the focus needs to be OL and WR.

Agree - we need a tall, experienced WR

As Kade Pieper concludes his redshirt freshman season, he continues to look like a rising star on the offensive line.

“He’s really athletically gifted,” fellow offensive lineman Gennings Dunker said. “He almost outjumps LoJo (Logan Jones).”

Back in July at the Big Ten’s annual football media days, Ferentz said Pieper “really caught our eye last year.”

Pieper appeared in 10 games in 2024 and saw significant playing time against Michigan State (20 snaps), Northwestern (41 snaps) and Wisconsin (16 snaps).
