Geno Stone.. A QB in the making? (Landof10 Article)

That must be why so many other teams actually use this strategy.

But continually running off tackle into a 9-man box, well, that's just damn smart football and not a waste of time, certainly.
The wildcat was a fad that most teams have trashed in recent years. Took too much time away practice.

Any other players with a promising future at their current position that we could make into quarterbacks? I bet Epenesa could be a Hell of a left tackle.

I do like a direct snap to a either a big QB or RB in short yardage like ISU did this year or Oklahoma did a few years ago when they had that huge backup QB. Guess it’s best to have a QB do it if your fortunate enough to have a big one on your roster.

Did I say it fools anybody?
...it happens literally every single play already. That is the joke. Iowa literally direct snaps it to their QB every play, every game, every year.

Yes, I would guess he knows what you are getting at. A QB like Lanning or the ole Belldozer at Oklahoma, who takes a direct snaps and runs into the line.

Look at his High School stats playing at QB.... wicked ... at least try him at Wildcat would be nice to get a slasher/dasher back at QB once and a while..

Great time to segue into talking about Hawkeye recruiting in Pennsylvania. I wonder what the chances of Terry Roberts playing O are. Even though he had a nice break out season on O, it seems we are adding a ton of receivers right now. If Nikia signs up we are sitting pretty good. Stoner will be a star in the defensive backfield when it's all said and done. If we ever ran direct snap, which I feel is unlikely, it would be more probable to have a regular offensive player handle that.

Old enough to know when someone completely dismisses an idea without offering a legitimate counter argument it usually means they don’t know what they’re talking about.
Sure thing pal. The fact that most teams do not use it compared to a few years back is legitimate enough for me. Ltr. Learn to read.

No what I described does not happen every play. I said a direct snap to a BIG QB or RB (like Lanning or Blake) in short yardage. I don’t consider Stanley to be like Lanning or Blake. You may also disagree but today’s terminology “direct snap’” is “shotgun” or “Wildcat” not under center. If you disagree google “direct snap’ for a definition.

Holy Hell. You actually never got HawkIDrummer’s joke... okay. After explaining the joke, I then explain that it is understood that(and I even mentioned Lanning and Bell) you were referring to something different. He was just poking fun. Incredibly, you didn’t get it, or didn’t take it well. Then again, and again you didn’t get it/take it well.

I think you need to read what I said. It should be easy. You quoted it twice. Please tell me you didn’t read the whole thing. That would be understandable, I’ve done it before too. If you read it and still didn’t get it, I don’t even know what to say.

What would you say I was talking about when I said we know you are talking about a QB like Lanning or Bell? You know, like I did in every single post that I assume you are not reading?

Test.

What are Iowa’s colors?

Test.

Are you playing a game with me?

You are the one who doesn’t get it Birky. He quoted my entire post. I get the joke if “I like a direct snap to the QB” was ALL I said which yes, does happen every play every year.

So, you just didn’t appreciate the joke. And the then acted like you weren’t reading all of my posts.

Carry on. Direct snaps to Wirfs on the goal line.

Oh I get the “joke”. I should have just said “ I don’t think my ol teammate was tryin to fool anybody when he lined Blake Bell up for a direct snap”

Oh hell, why even have specific positions, just pick the 11 best guys and draw up a play in the dirt. It worked great when I was growing up, I can't believe it wouldn't work!

Eppy can catch the ball as we witnessed. 4th TE maybe?

Funny, I keep seeing wildcat. What about Iowa state, with their LB playing QB on running downs? Too much practice time?

I think Stone should stay put on D.He will be solid. If Kirk wants a mobile guy taking snaps Mansell it is.
