So, I hit a deer with the current Tradmobile...

While the damage wasn't fatal, I'm gonna have to put the old girl down eventually and get a new ride. She's a 2013 Honda CR-V with 260,000 miles and runs like a champ. Fvcking deer....

Anyway, I've narrowed it down to the four in the poll (kinda like the CFP).

I did offer a write-in vote option, but be aware that I'm not interested in easy-to-steal Hyundais or Kias. No thanks to any of the Big Three American offerings. No, I don't want a Nissan Rogue, either.

Write-ins cannot exceed $40K MSRP.

What should I get GIAHORT?

Out of that list, RAV4 probably.

There's a reason why (I believe anyway) it's the best selling vehicle in the US.

I know 3 people that have them and they rave about them.

I have no opinion except make sure it's white.

White is the best car color, IMHO.

I've driven white Corollas since 2010.

Why white?

1.) It's safer at night.

2.) It reflects the hot summer sun.

3.) It fades less.

Mazda has a very cool (but rare) "Platinum Quartz Metallic" that's like white but with a faint goldish color. It's pretty awesome.

If I ever buy a you a car I know which color you are getting.

As a Toyota or Honda guy that effed up and bought a BMW, I think they’re all great mom-mobiles. I’d lean towards looks or whichever you can flash a performance tune on and hide so you don’t void warranty. I know you’re not looking for performance, but you will. My BMW is so much better built than a Japanese vehicle all around, but I worry about the engine. I never worried about that with any Japanese vehicle I’ve owned. Toyota rides softer than a Honda and Honda is tighter and more fun on tight roads. Subarus are getting uglier as I write this and Mazda feels like a bastard child of a Japanese, German, and American car maker in a good way. I’d go with looks in your case.

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a cactus?

With a cactus, the prick is on the outside.

I don’t subscribe to that. It’s a race car and built like that. I just had more piece of mind in my tin can Lexus. The BMW is much more solid in every way besides the engine.

The CR-V comes with the reputation of being the all-time champ, the biggest and the best all-around.

The RAV4 looks the best, IMHO. I also rented a newer one a few months ago and it was an impressive ride.

The Forester will allow me to get out on the beach more often with the AWD and it's supposed to have the most-comfortable seats for those long drives back and forth to North Carolina. Also great for the freak Raleigh snowstorms!

And the Mazda is supposed to be the best "driver's car" with the most bells and whistles and the most-luxurious interior of the group, but the last one you'd want to take off the road.

Decisions decisions...

So it was a deer on deer collision?

The joke refers to the way the BMW drivers drive aggressively. 😆

The forester wins on function for all-round use like you stated. You’d have to drive the other three a couple times to decide what you want. Honda will be tight and ride like a skateboard, Toyota will be a softer ride with Mazda being in the middle. You want the Subaru.

The Mazda interior is head and shoulders above the others. If you get the AWD I guarantee it will be fine for any off-road you plan to do.

Does Subaru still do the horizontally opposed engines? I hate that design. Talk about a way to over complicate a 4 cylinder engine...... Did they ever get them to stop blowing head gaskets all the damn time? Personally, as you can probably tell, I would eliminate the Subaru. I'd buy the Toyota, followed by the Honda, followed by the Mazda. I value reliability the most and I consider the Toyota to be the most trouble free vehicles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you consider most important.

Get an AWD Hybrid Rav4. Got to drive a new one for a bit and it was very nice. Could handle rougher terrain and cover over 400 miles with only a 9 gallon gas tank.

Is the Forester an Indigo Girls limited edition? If so, you won’t be able to keep the ladies away. Until they see you.

Edit - I had an Outback that got around 300K miles. They’re good vehicles.

Stay away from the Subaru's. I have pulled more of those over lately than any other vehicle. Those things must be easy to speed in.

That’s not how I’ve heard it. What is the difference between a porcupine and Jack Trice Stadium. The porcupine has 40,000 pricks on the outside.
