glad uni lost. I have no clue why so many of you would be pulling for that directional school of little value. I for one am glad to see them lose.

They have a small contingent of DB fans, just like every other school. It's not like we battle with them for recruits. I don't pay them any attention during the year, but I'll cheer for the homegrown Iowa guys in the tourney.

We would have taken their stud big that garaduated last year. Washpun would have been a nice transfer pickup. I think it is beneficial to Iowa to see UNI to be a clear fall back school.

This is why ISU fans and Panther fans hate Iowa fans. There are some DB Iowa fans who act like were the top dog in the state and that we are better than them.
It's going to pain me to say this, but great post. Your fans are the primary reason that I despise the Hawks with everything I have. But thanks for seeing things that others see. Not many Hawk fans do.

Right now I am for whoever (whomever?) is playing ISU, Duke and Wiscy. If that's A&M so be it, but that was painful to watch. The Hawks loss was embarrassing but soon forgotten; that was epic.

And you sure as hell can't blame it on one guy; coach or player (or ref?) :(

I was not rooting for or against UNI, but feel sorry for their senior players after that massive collapse. However, as someone said earlier, what's bad for ISwho and UNI is actually good for Hawkeyes as we want to weaken in-state competition. That's the cold hard truth (sorry to all the Panther sympathizers).

Why would we want that? So we can lose to a RPI team in the 100+ range in Des Moines? That makes no sense. We should want UNI to be good, so when we play them in the Non-conf its a "good" win. Having them be bad, does nothing for us. The way Fran schedules next season we will be playing all the MEAC, Sun Belt, and SUMMIT league teams. Our non-conf SOS will probably be pushing 200+. Having UNI & ISU relevant helps.

This logic makes absolutely no sense. An Iowa team that advanced is good for how people generally perceive the state of Iowa athletic programs. That's how we get those good city kids to come to Iowa. That's how we get the NCAA to select Des Moines as a site. Which ultimately means home court advantage for us.

I prefer to cheer for all teams from America, because I'm a patriot, you dirty communist.

i cheer against isu in all sports, just because we often recruit against them in-state and it's to our benefit for them to be bad. but i was pulling for uni last night. not like i had anything really invested in it though, and i didn't go to bed angry or bothered by the meltdown. but i do feel bad for their fans and their players and their coach. i'm not sure if i've ever seen a more epic meltdown ever in any sporting event. maybe so, but i can't think of it right now.

I don't think Iowa and ISU have gone head to head for any recruits recently? I think Niang or Morris was the last ones? I don't know if Cook, Moss, Hutton or anyone else recently was begin recruited by ISU.

If they are relevant its good for Iowa. Because it can be that "key" win to boost our RPI. I realize we haven't beaten them in a few years, but I think the series will be competitive. Same with UNI, if Iowa beats them and they go onto to win the MVC, that will always be a good win (much like WSU) was this year. It will always be helpful if those teams are good.

Uni and isu being relevant doesn't matter one bit for Iowa. Still glad uni lost in an epic collapse. Awesome.

Must suck to have your life filled with such hatred. Pretty sad and pathetic really. You must be a glutten for punishment to hang out on an Iowa site if you despise us so much. Kind of weird when you think about it. What team are you a fan of?

Soo if UNI is not relevant and is in the RPI range of 150-200 and Iowa loses, what does that do for Iowa??? Gives us a bad loss. Why not have them be good and be in the top 100 and if we win, it counts as a good win. I mean your logic makes no sense. UNI and ISU being good gives Iowa a chance at some good non-conf competition. If those teams are not relevant, our non-conf schedule is weak and we will be on the bubble every year. Fran has shown he only likes to play the MEAC's SUMMITS, and Sun Belt teams. So if we do not get a "good" pre-season tournament or good match-up in the ACC and Big East games, we are screwed.

Moss last year.

Supposedly Devyn Marble had in with Morris, the stud ISU PG, but Iowa never went after him because we had our Gesell/Clemmons combo.

Morris the same class as ULIS?? or is ULis a year ahead of him? I seriously think Fran thought he had him locked up until late. Sucks that happens, but you never know. that's the recruiting game you play.

IMHO resuming the Iowa - Iowa State football series was the best thing to happen to Iowa. when ISU beat Iowa 3 straight years , 78-80 I think, Iowa fans & sports admin said enough. Bring in a real coach and improve the facilities, it worked, football improved. maybe we need a push in basketball as well. I see where too many fans are content with winning 20 games and one and done in the NCAA. Push for more, I don't expect annual final fours every year but my god I think a BIG title every 10 years, a final four every 15 and a shot at a national title every 20 years is not too much to ask. We have had great basketball here, just not so much in the past 25 years. Played for the national title once, three final fours, Lets kick it up a notch.

#2 for UNI, could start for Iowa at this point, wtf how did we miss on this guy?

He is a good player, but he came on late. He was one of the main reasons UNI was able to finish down the stretch and win the MVC tourney. He is a nice player, who can handle the ball and also step outside and hit the 3. It will be interesting to see what UNI does going forward. Sounds like they have some quality recruits coming in next year. Nothing flashy, but players that are needed.

I kinda find it hard to cheer against 2 kids from Iowa City, 2 from Cedar Rapids and 1 from Waverly. If ISU had a contingent of Iowa kids I would cheer for them as well.

Morris is a Jr. this year, Ulis a Soph. I think we only had 1 available scholarship that year and it went to Jok.
