God Bless Phil Parker (and the rest of the defensive coaches)

As sure as the sun rises in the morning, Iowa's defense is going to be well-coached. Phil Parker and staff are truly incredible. They gave up two TD's early today and after that, pretty much shut Illinois down. The closest analogy I can compare is that of Bo Ryan and Wisconsin basketball. Their defense was always going to keep them in the game. They were too well-coached. Our defensive coaching staff is so good.

The streak of not giving up 25 points in almost two years is also nothing short of amazing. It's now sitting at 21 games. 22 after next week. Alabama is the next closest at five, and that my go down tonight.

The game and rules have changed to favor the offense more than ever. The defenses as a whole are at more of a disadvantage than ever before. Yet Phil and staff keep right on tracking.

Even in the worst-case scenario of Stanford and the Rose Bowl competing against an all-pro RB, his defense gave up 429 yards and 45 points. To put that in perspective, LSU just gave up 45 points and 470 yards to Alabama...in the first half alone.
