Gonzaga

Upsets like that are the only interesting thing about conference tournaments.

I'm perfectly ok with st. marys taking a bid from the bottom of the list of the power conference teams.

The Zags were overrated as well. I do not believe you can/could justify making a team from such a weak conference a number one seed. I would like to see how the Zags do every season playing in the ACC, B1G, SEC, or Big 12. I would bet they would incur a minimum of 4-5 losses per campaign.

Zags coach should be fired!!!! Fran should go there and show them how to lose more!!! (sarcasm if you don't have a BS detector).

Say what you want but Gonzaga has proven they belong among the elite, year after year.

Possibly but that raises another question: is it better to be the one seed in the toughest regional or the two seed in the weakest? I think I would choose the latter.

So they were in line to play the 3rd 2 seed. Now, if they drop to a 2, they will play the 4th 1 seed. Region stays the same though.

I am not proclaiming they are not among the elites. I am proposing that playing in a weak conference allows an inflated won/loss record every year.

And Few has utilized transfers despite them being a perennial top 10 team but not Fran. He has standards. Scream at his kid to "Shoot the F'ing ball 3 times" and call refs cheaters resulting in a two game suspension and 10K fine for the U but not going to entertain transfers and dilute the "chemistry".

sarcasm aside, the last Fran-Zag meeting, Iowa was blown out in first 5 minutes of the game. I wouldn't write of Zags, they're still better than Iowa but down from the teams the've had last few years.

If you look at the Zags they are like Boise St of football. They play a tough non-conf and then breeze through the conf slate. Then always seem to be highly seeded only to fall short of the ultimate goal.

I’d take their success in a heart beat, but they haven’t played a full game since December. Except last nights WCC final, that was their first full/tough game in a LONG time.

Mark Few continued to build Gonzaga into a powerhouse after Dan Monson left to go to Goofer-Ville and they've been contenders ever since.
Brad Stevens had more success than Todd Lickliter at Butler after Lickliter was the National Coach of the Year.
Two assistant coaches that took over programs that became winners. I don't remember Dan Monson ever saying he regretted leaving Gonzaga but we all know Lickliter has said he regretted leaving Butler.
