Goodbye Midlands

Very upset about this! You can’t stop the flu as it always mutates! All one has to do is google “Spanish Flu 1918” to see that people were malnourished from world 🌎 war 1 and not able to fight out the virus! Same thing now as the world needs more Iowa style kids camps, tennis and soccer camps! Health comes first! Do cardio daily like one needs to will help immensely! Very, very sad situation as these kids have trained hard!

Not surprised. Because of local population density, and partipants/spectators traveling from far and wide, the annual Midlands seems an event of much danger and potential crisis. Just this week some athletic programs (wrestling) in a number of Chicagoland secondary schools are on 'pause' as result of Covid-Omicron spread.
Does not bode well for the remainder of NCAA wrestling season, but (hope) not a doomsday event.

Ain't gonna matter when wrestling programs themselves start shutting down.

Gonna be Ivy's first, then mid major conferences, then P5's.
I think this is an over reaction. HTTPS://covidactnow.org/us/Iowa-ia.

According to that site everything is about half as bad as it was last year. I think it’s possible we see bigs and nationals without fans again. I’d be highly disappointed with them shutting down like they did in March 2020.

You’re assuming the powers that be at those schools would act rationally and reasonably. Wrestling is non-revenue almost everywhere but Iowa.

Those trends are always trending for sure...

More overreaction. Complete BS.

I know Ohio just reported the highest single day number of new cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

They are not the only state where numbers right now are higher than they’ve ever been.

i’m a crown seems to spread much easier than previous versions… But the good news is the symptoms seem to be more mild. So maybe that will help keep things open.

I’m not sure if you meant this as well but with everybody mixing across areas in tight groups the week before it’s a crapshoot having them mix in close quarters with different folks here as well. Sucks, but nobody wants to take the blame risk.

This forum is evidence enough that whatever the powers that be decide, the general public is going to do whatever it can to help this virus spread, so cancellations are useless. At least let the athletes go and take the TV money even if fans can't get in. I'm guessing we won't be able to attend any more duals at CHA this year either. Wrestling is the only escape I have from my insufferable wife and kids and these fuc*ers are trying to take it from me!

Have nationals in Florida or Texas!

man, i just upped my BTN + sub in anticipation.

Biting my tongue on the rest, but i have thoughts if anyone wants to hear them

Nah...

mine and yours are probably the same, but it's a dead horse.
No. We don’t want to hear them.

Yeah. All current data says Omicron is less severe and less deadly. It also is nearly completely over in South Africa, so it seems like it will spread like wildfire and then we’ll be over it relatively soon. I’m optimistic about the rest of the season.

I had to cut and paste this from themat.com forum! What a mess!

third dose increases the immunity, so after the fourth dose you are protected. Once 80% of the population has received the fifth dose, the restrictions can be relaxed as the sixth dose stops the virus from spreading. I am calm and believe the seventh dose will solve our problems and we have no reason to fear the eighth dose. The clinical phase of the ninth dose confirms that the antibodies remain stable after the tenth dose. The eleventh dose guarantees that no new mutations will develop so there is no longer any reason to fear the twelfth dose.
