I remember many a post about how Vic Viramontes was going to be the answer for the cars salesman and his gophers! The prized recruit is transferring after just one semester at Minnesota.. Goldteam, Gopherrube... would love some delusional insight here! After all this board is rent free

The Gophers were already going to be hurting at QB. Now it appears as though they'll be relying upon either a RS FR or TR FR QB to carry the load for them ... and their WR situation is not more intimidating than Iowa's ... and they don't even have the benefit of Iowa's caliber of TEs either (although Green looks like he could develop into a good one). It looks like it may be another tough year for the Gophers passing game. To their credit, they have an awfully strong and veteran stable of RBs.

The new quarterback Viramontes didn't go to Michigan because they wanted to move him to a different position, he then went to Cal and Sonny Dykes left and Viramontes wasn't happy with the new coach so he went the JC route. You can trash Gopher's football all you want, but we will have the last laugh, including a win next year at TCF Bank Stadium against the Hawks.

Their QB competition will apparently be a redshirt freshman versus a walk-on freshman.

I think you'll be surprised by the qb competition in Minnesota this year. We will see you in TCF with them.

I suppose you could look at it that way. I think SAB is done tongue in cheek and those guys are actually on the team...it's part of the gamesmanship, just like yelling at the game. I just see a guy's wife (and obviously kids) a little different. Either way, Gophers suck.

After watching the Iowa Illinois game from last year I really hope they do bring in Jeff George Jr.

How many time have we seen a coach take over a program and incorporate a new offense and fail because he never got the right players in place for his system especially the qb in time to be successful. Huge question mark we will see for a 2nd year and first year coach in big 10 west this season is how well their untested qbs do.

Remember 2018 is year 1 for Fleck. Last Year was year zero. So he has at least 3 more years to turn this disaster around.

I for one is glad he transferred, was gonna be our 3rd string QB and now opens up another scholly. JUCO's are hit and miss, we have had good luck with them recently. This was a huge swing and miss. Though freshman Morgan and Annested do give a glimmer of hope for the QB spot in upcoming years. Both played well in Spring game, expect Morgan to be our starter. Carry on Iowa, stay classy.

Wasn't a spin just reality. VIC was top ranked JUCO QB by both recruiting sites. So yes we had high hopes for him, then we watched him during Spring game. Think he was 1-3 for 2 yds, sacked 4 times with 2 fumbles. He just didn't belong, and now he's gone.

Fleck has upgraded our recruiting by quite a bit since he took over. Except he has failed pretty bad at QB recruiting. Clark(QB Iowa just offered) is suppose to be deciding soon between us and CAL. Hopefully we can finally land a good QB.
