It's not brandy. Is it good to make Old Fashioneds with?
What bourbon do you like that can be found easily at most local liquor stores? My son just picked up two bottles of Eagle Rare and two EH Taylor small batch while visiting his girlfriend's parents in Kentucky. I gave him a list with those two plus Stagg, Stagg Jr and Elijah Craig barrel proof. No luck so far on the others.
Lucky. My no pic, bourbon drinking wife was in Kentucky a few weeks ago looking for A similar list. She found none.My son just picked up two bottles of Eagle Rare and two EH Taylor small batch while visiting his girlfriend's parents in Kentucky. Wild TurkeyWhat bourbon do you like that can be found easily at most local liquor stores?
Sure, but you could a less "pricey" bourbon like Old Forrester that would work just as well. I hate using a "decent to good" bourbon on an old fashioned. Is it good to make Old Fashioneds with?
Going to pick it up later today. It was really cheap. Only $35ish I think. Did I buy the right stuff? Never tried it but was told it's close to as rare as Blanton's and that I should get it if I ever see it...so here goes!
Nah - I want what I can't get. I'm not gonna spend $200-$1,000 for the sake of it. That's a dumbass's game. I'll settle for Eagle Rare this time, and every other time, I'll collect my $65 bottle of Blanton's. But thanks.Aim higher next time you receive access to ABC's vault. You spent at least $500 to $1000 on -OH to end up with a $40 bottle of bourbon that can be found on other liquor store shelves or online. Rock Hill Farms would be a great pick or any of the BTAC's. Hell, I'll let you in on gem that can be found in the QCA. Cat's Eye Distillery in Bettendorf has a Family Reserve 107 proof and a Light Whiskey that is a much higher proof, both are solid!
That's some self-sacrifice right there. I wonder if you can write off the purchase as a charitable contribution??Eagle Rare is terrible. Please don’t buy it. In fact, send me a PM when you see it so I can take it off the shelves To keep you from wasting your money.
ER is on the sweeter side, which I think would work for it being used in an old fashioned. I will sometimes just go with orange zest and an ice ball.Is it good to make Old Fashioneds with?
Ppphhsss, Try Wild Turkey 101 for a mixing bourbon. It is a bargain. I picked up a handle in Wisconsin for $35. Great for Manhattans and MannyFashion hybrids. It's my normal "goto" bourbon and $35ish is correct. Both ER and Blanton's are Buffalo Trace product. ER is much more common than Blanton's although you might go a few months between seeing bottles of ER on the shelves. I've only seen Blanton's on a local shelf once in the last two years and snagged it immediately.
You should be happy with it.
Yeah. That's ridiculous. I bought the bottle in my cabinet for $70.I miss the days of Blanton's being a regular shelf bourbon.
I was in a liquor store last week and saw they had a couple bottles behind the counter. $299! Good, but not that good.
Never heard of that site. Just checked and they are $80 each nowI bought 2 bottles for $80 via Frootbat.com last fall
We should hang out. Other than politics, we have a lot in common.Ppphhsss, Try Wild Turkey 101 for a mixing bourbon. It is a bargain. I picked up a handle in Wisconsin for $35. Great for Manhattans and MannyFashion hybrids.
