I'm not going there, they had a really bad gameplan and thought it was just a political game. They didn't foresee Musk and Trump literally dismantling their base in rapid succession.
Even by the time the courts put a halt to whatever they're doing at the DoE, the damage is done. No organization can count on that money or plan its hiring around it again.
The only time corporate democrats put up a fight or show any energy is when they are faced with a progressive primary opponent. They are content being in the minority and enjoying the perks of office.
But what can they do short of using the courts right now? They tried to physically go to locations to no avail. So they have to try and use the traditional channels like this:

Lucas should take his leftwing idealogy and volunteer to knock on doors. He just needs to explain why tax hikes will help the common man, why men should be able to compete in women's teams, why poor performing public schools just need more money for teacher pay raises, why hard earned tax dollars should be spent on two former Soviet republics fighting it out, why tax money should be spent on performing arts in Ireland, etc...

Well if the social contract is truly irretrievably broken, all bets are off.
But I'd put him on double secret probation and/or hope that legitimate court orders being ignored results in sanctions, penalties, etc., along with universal heightened scrutiny and action by both parties. If that doesn't happen, we all have to survive until midterms.

He can ignore the courts. He can pardon any federal crime. He can rest assured that Congress will take no action. My preferred course? Millions of people march on Washington? I agree with your frustration, but you have to try and fight with every tool at this point. The courts are one of the best options.

There are so many court cases no one will care. That's the plan. Overwhelm the system so nothing tracks. Sure...they have to be taken to court but I have no faith that court rulings will have any effect.
Good news is if DOE contracts can be canceled on a whim so can every SpaceX contract.
