Great Article on Jim Jordan

Nice article. I didn't realize which Jordan was his son. I had assumed it was Bo.

This guy was an absolute jerk in college, nothings changed.
I don't know if the guy was or is a jerk, but he won 2 NCAA Wrestling Championships, which in my mind qualifies him far more than most of his brethren to be in a political office (i.e. he actually accomplished something). The U.S.A. could use a lot more "jerks" like this guy, IMO of course. When and if the "shit hits the fan", this guy will be there I have a feeling, and most of his elected brethren will be new residents of Vancouver or Winnipeg...................that makes him OK in my book.

Whatever your politics, what you did there was very slimy -- publicly insulting someone while hiding behind your anonymity -- not to mention that you offer nothing to substantiate your personal attack. Perhaps you'd man up and publicize your own identity so the public can share their thoughts about you in a similar manner. Maybe you could share some more irrelevant information about the NW wrestling program, of minimal interest to Iowa fans, while you're at it.

Or as CNN reported on Jordan carrying the Tea party's Benghazi water “clearly the worst, the most unprofessional, the most misleading, [and] the most … demeaning to Congress” adding it was a “repulsive spectacle.”

So if you believe that two NCAA titles and a middling coaching career qualify him for Congress, can we count on your support for the Cael Sanderson for President campaign?

That is a great article. Thanks for posting it. Very good discussion on politics and wrestling.
I forgot that Jordan beat John Smith twice in college. NIce video clips in the article as well.
Love his commitment to his politics.

If he's a Liberal the answer would be no.

What are the other qualifications for Congress? Having a rich Mommy and Daddy and opposed to real work? Congress if full of them, and they don't know you exist and never will. So I'll take the Jim Jordan types every day and twice on Sunday. He obviously busted his hump to be where he is. I like that. Why he would choose to to put himself in that mess, guess only he knows.

I think all politicians are a-holes, so Jordan is one of those "lesser of many evils" types of a-holes. Hope that makes sense, it does to me.

Just curious and seriously not trying to stir the pot, does anyone know anyone who wrestled D1 in college and is a democrat?
One of the guys who pretended to run a campaign against Queen Hillary. Can't remember the name without googling.

Ummm............. Defunding Planned Parenthood? Don't talk politics, don't talk politics. No one on here cares about your politics, or your body for that matter. Don't tell them about the difficulty of an illegal abortion in the 60's. They don't care; it doesn't happen to their bodies, so they don't want to hear about it. Clearly I have no guts, no balls, or I WOULD be having this conversation.

I don't think they were talking about outlawing abortion, just defunding federally funded abortions through Planned Parenthood. We have states where it has been made difficult to get one...we have states where a school will take take a teenage girl to the clinic without parental notification. It's an issue much like gun control.

For most things, I am a state's rights guy. If you don't like the laws of your state, work to change them or if its a very important issue to you, move.

The late Senator Paul Wellstone went to UNC on a wrestling scholarship and was an ACC champ.

Pretty sure Neil DeGrasse Tyson is a Democrat and wrestled for Harvard.

The head of Beat the Streets is a flaming liberal and wrestled for Princeton. I actually have several friends who wrestled D1 and they're all liberals; I assume they're Dems.

Of course, these guys mainly wrestled for Ivy League teams, so it's a specific sampling. Maybe only the really smart ones. (;

Indeed, the "really smart ones" or those who graduate from the Ivies, are currently running our country. Doing a bang up job, old chap.

The ones I know are mainly just making money and having fun; but they all give a lot to the sport. Novogratz, thru BTS, is completely changing wrestling in large cities.

I assume that in your opinion it was correct that certain states had laws that forbid blacks from having equal rights Before civil rights legislation was pass passed on a federal level.
By the way there is no federal money going to support abortions.

You ass-u-me a lot...please reread the first sentence of the second paragraph. Nice ad hominem attack tho. Also, close to a half a billion dollars go to PP annually...right or wrong, they perform close to 330,000 abortions a year. Now, that federal funding might not go to the specific procedures on paper but it does help keep the lights on.

3% of Planned Parenthood's funding goes to abortion related services. The rest is STD testing and treatment, contraception, cancer screening, and other women's services. I think the other 97% keeps the lights on. Please understand that no one wants to have or give an abortion.
I also don't trust the states. Many have been working industriously to curtail civil and voting rights.

Why is that?, I am curious? maybe geographics many Division 1 Wrestling schools are in the Midwest? I would guess most of Cornell's wrestlers are Democrats, as I heard 97% of campaign contribution from Cornell's Teachers, Faculty, goes to Democrats, so They probably indoctrinate/ brainwash the students.

The only Military man to run this year was Jim Webb who ran as a Democrat (now he might run as an independent 3rd party, he was getting only 1-2% of the vote.

yeah - i know

i suppose not enough money in being beat down to shit by a bunch of a-holes that don't like to hear the answers that are best for the defense of the country

I was on the Hill when Paul Wellstone was there. Really down to earth nice guy. I often ran into him while I was walking down to my parking spot and he was going for a walk on the Mall. Many of those guys wouldn't deign to talk to a junior staffer as you had nothing to offer them - unlike lobbyists, etc, but he was different. Great guy. And it wasn't a political thing. I was a Republican at the time and he was as far left on the spectrum as a Senator could be. After seeing what I saw, I am an independent.

Biggest disappointment to me - Steve Largent. Football hero to me. Came up to DC with all this high-minded rhetoric - bailed for big bucks with one of the slimiest trade associations out there as soon as he could. Yeah, he sure "cleaned up" DC. Real ahole in person, too.

Apparently you didn't hear that PP lied about the numbers and they are almost reversed of what they reported. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ar...renthoods_pathetic_3_percent_lie_127653.html#!

The highlighted statement probably applies to about 99% of them, if I were to venture a guess.................;) Sorry, it just irritates the hell out of me. Running for office used to be something that you could aspire to and people would look up to you, and many did it for the right reasons (yeah, talking a looooooong time ago). I'd prefer my children rob banks than run for office. Both crooks, but the latter does far more damage to the public, and steals more money in the process.

The "3%" figure put forward by PP was pretty laughable considering that they are the majority provider in the U.S. Even WaPo says it was pretty misleading.

This! I always laughed when Bob Dole talked about going back to Russell, Kansas when he finally retired - back to the "real America". Almost none of them ever return home unless their home is San Diego or Hawaii. DC is where the revolving door is and the chance to make your millions leaching off the rest of us. Bob Dole, with his swank apartment at the Watergate of all places, running as a DC outsider. Hahaha.

Most of my old friends who stayed in DC have generally turned into amoral money-grabbers - with principles that shift on a dime. It's very sad and depressing.

Probably the most depressing thing is to note the endless construction of offices west of DC towards Dulles. Filled with Government Contractors that need to be close to the trough.

During our government's most recent money grab--$15 trillion in deficit spending to fix "the economy" (which is roughly $50,000 per person--not per household-- meaning $200,000 for a family of 4 could have done a lot of "stimulating and stabilizing the economy")--housing prices in the DC Metro area went UP, while the rest of the country dropped sharply. Also, the District of Columbia is one of the only states/areas where actual incomes have gone UP substantially since 2007 as of early 2015--most states real median income per household dropped during " our recovery."

Food for thought.
