Anyone watch this schiz on Netflix? Griselda, for the non-coke heads on here, or those not old like me, was one of the OG gangstas in Miami via Medellin. Prior to Pablo was Griselda.

On Netflix, Griselda is played by Sofia Vergara. Obviously, the real life Griselda was heinous looking but responsible for at least 250 murders. She also moved about 11 billion bucks worth of blow.

The Netflix version is woefully inaccurate and leaves large gaps, makes up shit and otherwise, is terrible except for the soundtrack and Sofia. It's worth a B- watch.

I fantasize about being a gangsta in Miami and lived through those times so I can dig it.

Discuss Griselda. The Godmother would want it that way.

I found some pics of her in her youth and she wasn't too bad. However she didn't age well and she sure as shit wasn't Sofia Vergara. However the series didn't scratch the surface on how ruthless and deadly she was. Cocaine Cowboys paints a better picture.

I was driving my wife crazy when I kept complaining about how they changed everything. I heard something they had to tread lightly with the details because of her remaining living son (Michael Corleone..lol). Otherwise, not sure why they would have to change everything up. Like Rivi's past and personality. Or Martha Ochoa's fate. And of course, they made her too sympathetic. She had a price also on the children when she made a hit on a father and mother. She didn't bat an eye when little Johnny Castro was murdered.

I was in Medellin and decided to see Pablo Escobar's grave. About 20 yards away I randomly happened upon Griselda's grave. That was weird.

Indeed, they are in the same cemetery! Good catch. Her whiny ass son Michael is suing Netflix for this series.

I really would have liked to have seen an episode of her life in Colombia after she was deported. What was that like? Was she hiding the whole time or lived like anyone else? I was shocked she lived as long tbh. I would have expected an airport hit but maybe the police escorted her.

Another csb - my ex-girlfriend was visiting her family in Medellin when Blanco was shot up at the butcher shop. I called her immediately to see if she heard the news. She was like "Griselda who?" 🤷‍♀️

If you havent watched Cocaine Cowboy and CC Reloaded, they talk about her quite a bit. She was a bad bitch for sure. Fantastic documentaries if you haven't seen them. When they talk about most of the Dolphins offense doing blow until 5am before the SB, it makes you understand guys like LT. Wild times in the 80s in Miami.

I’m always skeptical of shows and movies “based on actual events”.

Can understand having to make some changes to fit the format, doesn’t translate well to the screen. But then they’ll change stuff to dramatize something or some stupid reason.

Great docs. The creator, Billy Corben, is doing a series on youtube with the son. Comparing the series to real life. Albeit, hard to believe what her son is saying.

Yes I was shocked she lived that long. When I was in law school, I did legal clinic. Two of my clients were brothers of legit war criminals. One was Sankoh who ran Sierra Leone into the ground with his buddy Charles Taylor in Liberia. Think Blood Diamonds. The other guy was from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Both applied and got asylum in the US. They had shoot on sight orders if they ever came back to their respective countries, much like Benigno Aquino. One guy I represented got busted on i80 with loads of coke heading to California. He was a cartel drug mule. He used to beg me to have him get convicted because if the dude was in free society his life expectancy would be zilch. Eventually he got extradited to California on an earlier warrant. My guess is he either got deported to Mexico or got killed as he's no longer in the federal inmate locator system anymore.

Check out Charles Crosby. Billy showcased him in Cocaine Cowboys from 2008. He was her boyfriend in California. Amazing that dude is still alive.
