Guilty pleasures....

What bugs me about some of those shows is that they are carried by stations such as The History Channel. Which for the naive and not too bright, could give those programs too much credibility. Just don't want American getting any more stupid. Was it something like 50% of those asked believed in Astrology -geesh.

My TV lineup on most Saturday mornings goes like this

6AM - Joy of painting with Bob Ross
6:30AM - 7AM -- Finish KCRG News
7AM -- Alps from Above
8AM -- Rudy Maxa's World
9AM -- Rick Steve's Europe

I'm finding myself watching more and more of these travel blog shows. I'm not sure why because traveling is something that is tops on my lists of things to do. I've even downloaded the PBS app on Roku so I can watch Rick Steve's "on demand" if I choose to do so.

F!!!! I HATE GETTING OLD!!!!

P.S. Joy of Painting has been a guilty pleasure since I was young. They only show it once a week now so early rising at on Saturday mornings is mandatory (getting up early is also my chance for "me time" before my kids get up to start the day)

This is a good point. Originally, Discovery networks (History included) showed documentaries that were just fact based, but over the years they've turned into entertainment networks, so I no longer take anything I see on there as fact. Nat Geo has gone down the same path.

I really hate the "mockumentaries" because they aren't very clear they're fake, so you have to hit the pause button on the DVR to read the message telling you it's fake. They're overproduced too, but that's harder to detect.

Your not truly old until you add the Weather Channel at the end of the viewing schedule.

I can't help it, I love Ancient Aliens and Hangar 1: The UFO Files.

I don't believe much if anything on them. But I enjoy watching them kind of like I enjoyed The X Files.
I love Ancient Aliens - the show with more "If this is true than couldn't this also be true which means this also may true to" statements than even a congressional hearing.

It's supposed to be something that you're embarassed about and wouldn't tell others, right?

Supernatural

I was board one day and saw this on Netflix. Before I knew it, I was through the first two seasons. You guys now know a secret about me.

Two things:

1) "My time" with Bob Ross? You are one sick mother...
2) There is this invention called a DVR...

I have a couple of friends on FB that I have never met but sure seem to know what they are doing at all times.

TruTV, particularly World's Dumbest, is my guilty pleasure TV. I realize I'm losing brain cells listening to the running commentary of Tonya Harding and Danny Bonaduce....but I watch anyway.

It says guilty pleasures!!! I was under the impression that we wouldn't be judged!!!!

I have DVR, the early rising is more for me to check on some things at work, watch whatever I want to watch, surf the web, etc). Bob Ross is just the icing on the cake

Rick Steves' Europe is a great travel show, I've seen every episode multiple times.

I follow his company on Facebook, he just wrapped up filming what looks to be an interesting multi part show about Martin Luther and the reformation that'll air next year. Also taped 10 new episodes of his show for next fall as well as an Easter in Europe episode for next spring.

Speaking of being old, in last seasons Berlin episode, he threw out this little tidbit.. over half of the German population today was born after unification, no living memory of the cold war.

Why did you edit out Diner's, Drive-In's, and Dives? I think you had that on your list originally.
FYI I've knocked out two more spots in the last two weeks. George's in Des Moines, and Glenn's Diner in Chicago. I'm almost to 40 featured restaurants.

Because the title was guilty pleasures. I'm not ashamed of triple D. I went to a place in Tampa, FL. It was just ok.

I used to love was Australian Rules Football.

Eventually the guilty overwhelmed the pleasure.

Now I like nature and history shows.

Mine is Finding Bigfoot. I watch it kind of in a Mystery Science Theater 3000 kind of way. It makes it much more entertaining.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you think that people that believe in Astrology are stupid. How do you feel about people that believe in god?

Some of you need to look up the definition of "guilty pleasure". Unless you are so highbrow that anything besides Shakespeare, or a production done by the Metropolitan Opera, is beneath you.

I wouldn't say I have any guilty pleasures that I seek out. However, my wife has a few. The only one I will actually watch with her is the Teen Mom series. Only because most of those chicks are absolute train wrecks.

Archer and Robot Chicken. I can watch both any time, anywhere, any number of repeats. Helluva lot funnier than live action comedies ever are nowadays.

When I need a belly laugh, I just pull out the Star Wars episodes of Robot Chicken and proceed to melt away the stress of my life.

I chain watched Wet Hot American Sunmer last weekend on Netflix. That was my guilty pleasure of the day. My wife was astounded I finished it.
