Happel picks the Hawkeyes (Interview)

Thanks for all you guys do to cover wrestling in the state of Iowa, and the nation! As well promote and grow the sport at every chance you get. The true wrestling fans appreciate it!

Echo that! Also, the NOC singlets are so much better than what they wore at WNO. By the way, anyone know what the attendance was for WNO and NOC?

Word, the fighting shorts/rash guard stuff is lame, but thats just, like, my opinion man.

And if he wants to fire shots at the Female interviewer after Night of Conflict, i think its fair to fire shots back for those incredibly stale 'press conferences' before WNO events, i felt embarrassed for the kids having to do them

Tim Foley is always pushing this crap on the intermat too. It looks so stupid. It must be some kind of east coast thing. If someone doesn't feel comfortable in a singlet they probably won't feel comfortable in a tight shirt either.

I was at work when this all went down. Very glad we picked up Happel...Yea, he lost two matches in one night but I don't know how much stock I put into preseason duals. Really think the first loss shook him and the mental game took over from there. I think he has the chance to be another Sorensen but he has to get through some pretty stiff competition in the room in Turk and Ryan. It speaks to his confidence that he is willing to give it a shot. He will be just fine after a year in the room.

Did I miss something? You pointed out the interviewer was female and capatalized it. Was there some sexism in there or was the female part irrelevant?

I very much disagree with the notion that wrestling numbers would increase if the singlet went away. It's a physical sport that requires a lot of hard work for most to be successful, your flaws can't be hidden within the framework of a team effort and there is relatively little fan fare. The singlet is a convenient excuse to not wanna admit you are not willing to deal with the other obstacles.

PBS, sorry, i was referencing knights post in the 'new recruit' thread.

Nope Willie just goes out of his way again to start sh&t. I wish he would of realized how cool it was to have a female reporter interviewing in the wrestling world and trying her best instead of going negative right way. I guess I shouldn't be shocked. Only way to shut his trap is for guys like Kemerer, Marnelli, Happel, Holloway, Young and on and on......go out and win national titles. I guess we need to earn Willie's almighty respect.

@WillieAtFLO: In case it wasn't abundantly clear that IAWrestle's sole purpose was to recruit for Iowa https://t.co/2BVYylarjx

I assumed Willie was going off because the interviewer was kind of leading the interview with Thomsen to see if he was leaning Iowa, which i would assume is natural seeing as he just wrestled at CHA. I guess the being female is kind of irrelevant.

Edit: Also don't look too much into the capitalization, it's a bad habit of mine when I'm typing to sometimes capitalize stuff that doesn't require it.
