you can’t always get what you want!
4 years ago the Constitution was under attack on this day. For 4 years Americans were lied to by Trump and MAGAs about how the election was stolen from him. Of course, nothing but lies, blather and bullshit but “noise” nonetheless. Today America will witness first hand how a democracy is supposed to work. A peaceful and non-violent transfer of power will take place early this afternoon.
It’s not because Democrats agree with Republicans and Trump in how the country needs to be run. It will happen because Democrats, as a Party, love the concept of our American style of democracy.

We all know what would have happened if Trump had lost the election last November. We have observed how he/they react to adversity almost daily for the past 4 years.

That was on 5 November 24 when we rose up and took out the trash!!

I wonder how different 1/6/21 would have been if there had been this much snow on the ground?

Would Trump still have held his rally? Would all those people still have shown up? Would the march on the capitol have been stymied if the snow plows had been held back and the streets weren't clear?

Then again, maybe only the hard core would have shown up and we would have seen a more coordinated assault leading to Mike Pence being hanged.

Care to elaborate?

So you're against taking accountability?
Lots of federal assets (FBI) were involved in j6. Some even went into the Capitol. We have video of ray epps telling people to do illegal things for days and the feds pulled him down from the most wanted lists immediately despite this and the cheney folk went out of their way to run cover for that one individual. Pretty obvious tbh

No, I wish the dems would finally start doing it.

Tell me you've NEVER EVER read a single post I've said on the topic without actually telling me.

Hey, I’m with you, man.

To the loony left, I’m a MAGA dumb ****.
To the MAGA Idiot Brigade, I’m a pink-haired communist.

Hence the fundamental problem in America: the lunatic fringe has grown so exponentially that sane people are now looked upon with suspicion and contempt.

They do it to you; they do it to @binsfeldcyhawk2; they do it to me; and they do it too many others. Oh, and let’s not forget how many different handles we’ve had past and present. I don’t know about you, but I’m working on my 69th to go along with Ragnar. 🙄

Okay, so Federal agencies had assets on-site, but where's the credible evidence they incited violence? Also, I'm confused on yours and others stance...was their violence or just a casual stroll around the Capitol? If there was no violence, then why did Nancy need to take ownership of anything?
No, I wish the dems would finally start doing it.
Why would only dems need to hold themselves accountable? Wouldn't we want that from all politicians regardless of political affiliation?

Were they “burned down” as you said? Which federal buildings in Portland and Minneapolis were burned down?
Of course, nothing was technically burned down, but there was significant damage to buildings during the unrest in both Portland and Minneapolis. In Portland, the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse is where the protests (riots or whatever) took place for weeks. It was heavily vandalized—windows smashed, fires set around or near it, and graffiti everywhere. Repairs were needed, and it was temporarily closed, but it wasn't "burned down."

In Minneapolis, the biggest incident was the burning of the Third Precinct police station after it was abandoned by officers. Protesters set it on fire, and it was heavily damaged, essentially rendered unusable. But that was a local police building, not federal.

As for federal buildings in Minneapolis, there’s no evidence any were burned down. Some might have been vandalized during the chaos, but they weren’t destroyed. So yeah, the idea of federal buildings being "burned down" is more of an exaggeration than what actually happened. Still, the damage in both cities was no small thing.

I don’t know why this conversation has to take an “either-or stance” with J6 and these other events. Both incidents were wrong in their own ways and should be handled as such. Accountability shouldn’t be dependent on political leanings or which event fits a particular narrative better. Wrong is wrong.

Democracy works on the first Tuesday of November and January 20th. Elected officials doing their jobs is not an exercise in democracy. If that's your basis then democracy hasn't worked much or well, in 20 years.
