Not surprising - never said it was apples/apples.
I usually see gov't capital spending #'s which I guess would be fairly reliable since they'd see deductions.
I'm not sure where the chart #'s showing "factory investment" came from. The gov't #'s would also include other capital investments like equipment for non-factories (planes - Fed Ex bought a bunch), Warehouses, Trucks, office, etc., etc.
I know it was near impossible to find good concrete, plumbing, electrical, rigging, etc. contractors for projects in 2019 and early 2020. Now they are calling me looking for work.
Personally from 2018-2021 I was involved in about a dozen greenfield or major plant expansion projects. Right now, I have zero of those but one customer thinking about doing one which would be about 2026 build. He'll wait until after the election to decide based on tax policy. All my exiting projects are just replacement of old production lines with new lines in existing locations.
