Has any kicker in history missed more PATs than Marshall Koehn?

JFC guy, what's the deal? How many did he miss? 6 in a single season?

He was a really good kicker for us, all things considered, but man, how can you be so bad at the easiest part of your job?

PSU does not have any scholarship kickers or punters. Their kicker missed 4 in two games and was benched.

And we have another kicker that could have kicked extra points (not necessarily field goals). Just another indication of the coaching genius at work in Iowa City. Keep the one guy kicking missing extra points.

Koehn has surely been an enigma. His leg strength places him in the upper tier of kicking prospects. I don't think I've seen someone with a better field goal average from distance than XP average. I can't find statistics, but he has to be close.

Overall, he was 16/20 on FGs (80%) and 47/53 on XPs (89%) in 2015. Does anyone remember what distances his missed FGs were from this year? I wouldn't be surprised if his FG average on 40+ yarders was better than his XP average.

I agree, actually. Although not ideal, none of his missed XP had an impact on the outcome of a game. The 57-yarder obviously did.
This guy has missed more…

Only 50 yarders (1/1) and 1-19 (1/1) actually surpass the XP, but he was a solid 7/9 from 40-49, and went 5/6 from 30-39 including that BS miss against Minnesota.

Like I said before during the season....he had a tendency to push his XPs hard to the right just like the miss yesterday. I don't know if that was from being distracted by the defense constantly leaping over our middle guys on the PAT tries or if he just kicks so hard that it's a flaw in his close range form.

BTW while we're on the subject Iowa should look into changing their blocking schemes (new this year) for PATs. Almost every time the guys near center would jump right over our blockers because we would squat low and sit there watching those guys hop over us. I am surprised we only had one or two blocked XPs this year.

What a stupid leadof of a post. "In history?:

I liked to joke and say we should take a couple false starts on each PAT :).
That said he'll be missed. Hard not to appreciate him when you see "top notch" college (and even the occasional nfl) teams afraid to kick a 35-40 yarder :).

He wasn't Kaeding or Schlicher, but Iowa could have been a lot worse off than having a guy whose missed kicks didn't cost them a game this year
