The critics continue to downgrade Iowa based on the fact that they haven't exactly blown teams away considering their so-called "soft" competition. Actually, there is a valid reason for this. Iowa's offensive philosophy is to control the ball by grounding it out therefore eating up the clock to shorten the game. When they do need a quick score they have shown on numerous occasions they are perfectly capable as shown as recently as last Friday against the Huskers.
Quick striking teams do not allow their defense to get rest leading to the opponents marching down the field and scoring at will resulting in shootouts (Big 12?).
Winning by 40 or by 7, who cares? A win is a win.
