So we are one possession in each game away from being undefeated but would we really be that much better had we won all 3 games we lost? Or even had only one close loss and we're 7-1? I pose the question b/c it is just commentary on the 17 pt. line. It's probably about right. Vegas is usually pretty good at setting these. I just find it interesting how the line would have been different had we we won 2 more games or even all of them. Just from the eye test, not sure we are really a 5 or 6 point underdog had we won a few more games.
Keep in mind that Vegas makes those lines just to try to get 50% of the $ on either side of the line. That's why you'll see it shift quite often as the money piles up on one side or the other. They know what they're doing in terms of tugging heartstrings and getting people to open their wallets - that's about it.

As for the actual line, Ohio State's offense is rolling, but this could be a prime let down following the big game last week.
Most Hawkeye fans are beyond frustrated with the offense. The last few opponents haven't been anywhere near the quality of OSU either.
Never mind the whole country just watched Ohio State knock off PSU.
Oh, and then there's the fact that Iowa hangs with OSU about once every 15 years (I realize they haven't played regularly for a while). I should note usually they hang close for about 35 minutes, but then OSU pulls away and sometimes it gets ugly at the end.
I'd not be in any hurry to back the Hawks +17, although I should note I wouldn't be shocked by ANYTHING come Saturday. Well, I would be shocked if the Hawks win by more than 10. But none of these scores would shock me: OSU 49-3, OSU 24-21, Iowa 17-16.

I'm hoping for the above mentioned possible letdown. If that happens, maybe keep it in the 17 point range. Right now we have no answer for tOSU. No running game, passing game is shaky, punting game is really shaky.
My biggest regret this year was not taking OSU against UNL when it was -24. That was the layup of the year. Won't make that mistake this game. -17 is a gimme. I don't think the Hawks will score unless its a fluke special teams play.
I'm guessing it was Wisconsin the year they drilled us 28-9?
EDIT - yes, that's the one. Before that one, it was the year PSU came in and pounded us.
