Hawk Comments fueling MSU

Wow, those are fightin' words - "We won, you lost". It's not like they said MSU sucks and still sucks. If any team beats you twice in a season, I would expect them to be up for any rematch. But crying out loud, it's 4 games away if at all.

Who is Jared Utoff?

Hey..it's nice we are even being noticed is such a BIG way. How many teams have beaten an IZZO team home and away in a season? I doubt very many but the good ole Iowa Hawkeyes are one of them.....:p

Whatever....screw em Now if we could just get payback for that football loss.

well...why even play the games. MSU is obviously going to win both the Big 10 and the national championship with these.

Good grief. Talk about making mountains out of a molehill by MSU. The Spartans had basically treated Iowa as a shoe smashing a bug for the last 5 years. Context is everything. After the first Iowa win, it was dismissed by the talking heads as MSU being without Valentine. Leading up to the 2nd game, the Spartans were saying how the rematch would be different. Then after the game Uthoff was asked more questions about beating MSU without Valentine and then beating them in only Valentine's 2nd game back. It was obvious the Iowa team was sick of getting beat around by MSU and went out and did something about it.

If Sparty used it to turn around their season, more power to them. I would like to see a rematch, it would mean Iowa beat Purdue and Indiana and is paying for a BTT title.

Good, I hope we see them again. They, like PU, do not match up well with Iowa. And I want to see Sapp take his lifelong buddy out of a game, again.

I agree, context is everything. For example, the article linked in the OP is titled "Deserved comments" from Iowa players have motivated MSU.

Within the article, it says that the assistant coach that printed the quotes "thought the comments were not disrespectful, but “deserved comments.” And as such, he said he would naturally try and use them for motivation. It also certainly bothered him, but what bothered him more was pulling up the game film and the resulting feeling of, “Yeah, I can see what he’s saying.”

Thus, what the article is saying is that Michigan State knew that what the Iowa players said were true, and they were motivated to change that. I don't see anything in this article that shows any ill-will against Iowa.

Smart coaching by Izzo. Use innocuous comments to build a fire under his team. Remember, Sparty was pretty much a dumpster fire during the non conference season once Valentine went down. In fact, it took them overtime to beat Oakland.
