Had a good time at the Armbar at thr Armory. It was kind of a quaint old venue in the middle of downtown Albany. Really old school stuff, like Veteren's Memorial Colluseum in Cedar Rapids or the Hippodrome (McElroy) in Waterloo.
I met Hawk fans from Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Ohio. Each of them had a story about living in Iowa at one time or another. Some were there teaching. Some were being treated at University Hospital. Quite a few of them had never wrestled, but caught the bug watching Iowa Public Television, or had stumbled into a meet at Carver-Hawkeye on a lark while they were visiting. I could also feel the respect from other fans there for our program, our state, and for all the good guys on our team. And everyone wanted to know when Spencer Lee would start. All of this reminded me that it is truly a Hawkeye Nation.
Go Hawks!
