Hawkeye Open cancelled

My question is are people really asking for another tournament this time of year? Seems like people already complain about the watered-down Midlands and Scuffle. Do this in the early season to replace the Luther open. Also having it during the time of year where you aren’t almost guaranteed travel problems.

I believe Josh S, mentioned that they Spoke to Izzz and Willie before the tourney was announced. So communication was as always, Was done.

Planning anything with short notice is always a challenge. Too bad it didn’t work out, but looking forward the event has a great team, Venue, and the Iowa Hawkeyes behind it. That is pretty great news.

hopefully those tickets are refunded

The release literally says they will be refunded. The individuals running the event have a great reputation. Why would you ever think they wouldn’t be?

I think you answered your question when you touched on the downfall of the Midlands and the Scuffle. But perhaps they will look at a different date. Also, don’t ignore the women’s element of this tournament. Potentially big returns there.

Maybe there is a large contingent unhappy with Midlands timing (RIGHT after xmas) but not interested in the Scuffle. I have no doubt that if there is a desire for such a tournament there is no better team to pull off a great product.

from bad to worse smh

i don't think anybody did anything wrong. they were trying to make the best of a bad situation. but assuming we can't get our guys into midlands/scuffle last second, this was a total disaster. i'm sure nobody is more frustrated and disappointed than them.

I thought I read in a forum that scuffle was full.

You might have read it but that’s doubtful as a few teams have dropped out recently.

If they aren’t sending starters anyway it doesn’t make sense to send them so far away. But who knows.

Edit: Given the Matmen starts tomorrow and the Scuffle on Saturday it’s more sensical than I first thought.

I'm betting our redshirts get in one or the other tourneys yet.....

This week is really starting to head south. From having my week planned out with Midlands to warming up to a plan B to now thinking my best bet is Michigan vs ASU tomorrow night on Flo. Minny better get down to Carver next week or my head is going to blow up.

I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you... but Michigan/ASU is January 3rd

I’d think Dan Dennis has good connections for the Southern Scuffle, since he was the RTC coach in the area.
