Or why Jestin Jacobs would be in consideration for "Outlaw".I think he, like I and I'm guessing many others, are wondering how "JJ" gets you to "Ironman".

If you talk to people who seem to know (not coaches...and I claim no inside knowledge) Jack Campbell has as good a chance to have a hand in the dirt as staying at linebacker. Not that height is a limiting factor, but he is already 6'5". Some think he'll be a lineman eventually. Maybe 2 more backers taken yet if the right ones?
Thanks David. Not many. I think by my first count there were only 12-13 seniors and then you probably have to add about 4-6 in for other players that will leave. I bet this class ends up around 18 or so.
I too claim 0 knowledge but with 20 linebackers(or whatever it was) on the roster I have to think they are safe there unless there is a guy they REALLY LIKE. (AKA THEY GET KISER AND HENRICH)
Or, perhaps some guys start to transfer out. Not my hope, but it does happen.
LBs:
Weiland, Mends, Colbert, Welch, Wade, Doyle, Campos, Ludwig, Andersen, Hockaday, Niemann, Jones, Taylor, Benson, Evans, Klemp, McDonald, Riggs, Timm
Hockaday, Mends = seniors
LBs make great candidates for other positions: Wade at rb if not in mix? Some fit FB? DT?
I have no idea but maybe there's always room for the right guy.
A number of the listed LBs are walk-ons. Also, Ludwig had been practice at fullback during the spring. As you indicated, LBs are great candidates for position changes AND they're also a great body-type when it comes to contributing to special teams.Or, perhaps some guys start to transfer out. Good point homer. I think we will be pretty good at special teams moving forward if they can convince the majority of those guys to stick with it and not occupy a scholly. If I remember correctly we had a few guys turn down really good "lesser" schools to walk on. The riggs kid stands out.A number of the listed LBs are walk-ons. No....Blair’s post had Tony Stark in it.....before he became Ironman....just sayin. So he doesn't know how to communicate as an adult like you? From his capacity to reply I can believe it.
To answer your question:
1) Really?
2) Ironmen and Hawkeyes?
3) Ironman = strong hero?
4) Blair's post literally has Ironman in it?
Btw, "many others". I'll give many others a little more credit and assume most don't care and the few who do understand the meaning isn't worth the time to critically analyze it.
YAWN. Actually, he has to sign yet. Verbal means squat...

The Iowa Hawkeyes have landed one of their top targets at linebacker, Jestin Jacobs. Today, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Ohio native made the call and gave his verbal commitment to Iowa linebackers coach Seth Wallace and the Hawkeye coaching staff.
"I chose Iowa because I was beyond impressed with the way they recruited me," Jacobs told HawkeyeReport.com after announcing his decision. "Coach Wallace and Coach Parker presented themselves as great people and coaches."
"When I took my unofficial visit, I did not know what to expect, but I was blown away by the people and facilities around the program," said Jacobs. "I have a great feeling about the school. I feel they will push me to be the best player and person I can be."
This month, Jacobs narrowed his choices down to Iowa, Northwestern, Michigan State, Purdue, Kentucky, Cincinnati, and Iowa State with plans to visit each school one more time over the summer before deciding. However, after his latest conversation with Iowa, the three-star prospect decided there was no reason to wait any longer.
"Over the past week, I’ve talked to the coaches a lot and I felt like this was the right decision and there was no need to wait," Jacobs said.
In addition to his seven finalists, Jacobs also held scholarship offers from Nebraska, Missouri, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Duke, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Rutgers, Indiana, and Vanderbilt, among others.
Overall, Jacobs is commitment No. 8 for the Hawkeyes in 2019 as he joins Desmond Hutson, Sebastian Castro, Logan Lee, Ezra Miller, Tyler Endres, Noah Fenske, and Jack Campbell in Iowa's recruiting class.
As a junior last year, Jacobs finished the season with 74 tackles and 13 TFL at Northmont High School in Clayton, OH. With good size and speed, he has the ability to play inside or outside linebacker in college.
See highlights from Jacobs’ junior year at Northmont in the video below.

The player hasn't committed anywhere yet. He's told the Iowa coaches that he's coming here. The actual commitment comes on NSD when he faxes in his signed LOI. Until then, it's just message board fodder.O so your the type of guy who really celebrates national signing day?

Hoping you're right. Does he have a offer from OSU yet? I haven't seen one..we'll see if/when Meyer comes callin how committed he is to Iowa. Almost 10 months to go...unless he signs early.Be positive kid says he's committed to iowa I'm Sold
Yep, and the Iowa coaching staff celebrates it to.O so your the type of guy who really celebrates national signing day?
Fisher came in at NW at over 230. We know what Doyle can do for guys in the weight room, but Jacobs has some work to do to have a similar build to Fisher. I like Jacobs tape. He's adept at making it to the ball unscathed. I would definitely keep him outside and unfortunately depending on OSU's class and the type of season Jacobs has they could come calling for the home stater. Hope hes a real hard commit!Obviously looks like a fit at outside linebacker. But middle linebacker wouldnt surprise me either. Would be a rangy guy with long arms, sheds really well. Similar build to Paddy Fisher from Northwestern.
Two high end linebacker recruits plus Campbell and Doyle. You have to like what Parker is building on defense.
He is literally committed. When the LOI comes in, he’ll be signed. The player hasn't committed anywhere yet. He's told the Iowa coaches that he's coming here. The actual commitment comes on NSD when he faxes in his signed LOI. Until then, it's just message board fodder.

The signed LOI faxed in is the commitment. As it stands now he's simply told the Iowa coaches he's coming there. There's no commitment whatsoever in that.He is literally committed. When the LOI comes in, he’ll be signed.
He is committed. Will he follow through with a signature? Sometimes commitments are broken. In your definition, a commitment can only be determined after the fact. Jestin, for example, has committed, or promised to take a scholarship offer from Iowa. It is possible he’ll break that promise, but not likely. The signed LOI faxed in is the commitment. As it stands now he's simply told the Iowa coaches he's coming there. There's no commitment whatsoever in that.
No, he is committed. Doesn't mean he can't back out of his commitment (people do in football and life in general all the time), but he is committed. There is no paperwork needed to show commitment. I committed to watch my nephews baseball game this weekend, I hope I am allowed to back out.The signed LOI faxed in is the commitment.
