@PSU, @Neb, Maryland, @ NW, Mich, Rutgers, Wisky, @ Maryland.
The past 7 games thread was fun to read through. What happens in the next 8 B1G games to get us to the 1/2 way mark? I'll go Loss, Win, Win, Win, Loss, Win, Win, Loss. (5-3 the next 8)
That would be 6-4 in conference @ the turn, 16-7 overall (assuming a victory over Kennesaw St.)
I would be very happy with this. Thoughts?

This is doable and I'd be very happy. Wouldn't it be nice to squeak a win out of Penn St

We can be favored in all but 2 or 3 games if we keep rolling, and keep our remaining top 8 healthy...

I'm betting on Garza and his King Kong mentality and physical strength towards the game. He is a beast!

Win, win, loss, win, revenge, win, win, loss. Michigan isn't going to win single teaming Garza again. Fran will take them out at home. We'll Get revenge against Maryland, and take them out in the B1G tourney. Boom!

I am intrigued by the PSU game at the Philadelphia Palestra, which I'm attending. It's not exactly a neutral court but I expect it will draw more hawk fans than just me and my crew, plus the Lions will have to travel to play this home game. Plus it's Fran's old home court! I like our chances.

Team has exceeded all my expectations so far. These guys are fun to watch and root for. Garza, Wieskamp, Frederick, and Connor have been pretty consistent in showing who they are and what they bring to the table game to game. I’d probably put Kriener in that group too . If they bring it in a consistent basis, JoeT and Evelyn become more steady consistent and Pemsl gives just a little. 6 out of the next 8 is realistic .

This is what I got. 7-1 losing the last. Would be sweet !

Michigan could be without Isaiah Livers for a while too? Haven't heard the extent of his abdominal muscle injury but those can linger and keep you out for a long time.

I'm right with you. I think we can mostly solidify our spot in the dance barring a 2nd half collapse.

9-11 maybe 8-12 could get us in you'd think with a win in BTT. Those non con pillar wins will help hold our NET as well as how strong the BIG is as a whole...

I'm just worried that at 9-11/8-12 our NET will get hurt from a results perspective. We'd be 18-13 or 17-14 heading into the B1G tourney. That's NIT territory typically.

Much of this PSU team is from Philly, so it's a homecoming for all of them (Lamar, Watkins, Brockington, Lundy, etc). Expect a sell-out and a 90-95% pro-PSU crowd. We scheduled MSU at the Palestra in this slot 2 years ago and knocked them off - the place was ROCKING. I have tickets and am making the trip from Harrisburg, PA -- can't wait! However, expect more of a home court advantage there than if the game was in State College.

That would be very close, but we're almost certainly looking at a much better NCSOS than we've had in many years. Cincy will finish with plenty of wins, ISU and Syracuse are usually good for beating some top teams at home and may wind up in the tourney picture yet. TTU, DePaul and SDSU, jury is still out but they're all very much more likely than not tournament teams as well. Still a 8-12 or 9-11 record would suggest that there's a couple bad losses in there and at the end of the day, it would kind of leave on display that the team on Selection Sunday (without JB), isn't as good as the team with Jordan Bohannon if we're right on the cut-line.

I think we're still quite capable of 11-9 or 12-8 but there's too many wild cards for me to even fully declare that's the ceiling. There will still be a couple nights on defense like DePaul or Michigan where we get run out, but overall it's probably a better defensive group than a year ago to the point that I'd be surprised to see us get lit up by teams like NW, Rutgers and Nebraska as we did a year ago.

Agreed. Wish the game was in State College for that reason. Should be an interesting game.

I see 6-2 with this team due to their mental strength. I’m impressed how they play through all kinds of issues on and off the court, tough, challenging games to all the injuries they are seeing and dealing with.

They will have an up-hill battle in every one of them if they turn the ball over like they did last night!

I see Cincy struggling the rest of the season. Don’t seem to have great team chemistry. They aren’t beating Wichita or Memphis in that conference. I’ll still take that win but I see them at best 3rd or 4th in that league.

@PSU...very tough
Maryland very tough-home and away
Michigan & Rutgers...both tough and athletic
@Nebraska, @NW, Wisky here.......all tough

I would honestly be happy with 4-4 during that stretch. This year seems even crazier than most years in college bball.

Iowa plays PSU in Philly, not on their God-forsaken campus. I like Iowa's chances there.

With all of the injuries, I think 10-10 might be a little optimistic, unless Patrick can play some and Pemsl comes to life.

I think last night will not be representative of JoeT for the rest of the year, but we need Evelyn to continue to play with some confidence offensively and for JoeT to step up to at least not be a turnover and foul machine. Both are OK on defense.

I might be more concerned about the lack of a decent big off the bench, beyond Kriener, who will probably be on the court with Luka for at least a few minutes in most games. If you watch Pemsl on the court, he looks incredibly slow and almost lost at times. I really think Till needs to give us a couple of minutes each half, just to help keep Luka and Kriener fresh. Better teams are going to find Pemsl on the defensive end, and he adds almost nothing, except maybe a designated picker, on offense.

Since I am a little out of touch, what is the deal with Patrick? Is he out for the year, or is that still being decided? He could really help balance rotations a lot, because we are really challenged offensively, when Luka, CJ, and/or JoeW take a blow.

The Woody/White/AC teams were pretty tough. This is an especially mentally tough crew though.

It seems like those teams lost quite a few games with late misses at the free throw line.

Wasnt there a streak active in those years where we were something like 0-15 on FG attempts to take the lead in the last 2 minutes of the game?

Happy Valley is horrible for basketball crowds. They may do better it in attendance in Philly... But you know Hawks are everywhere, and it is Fran's town!

Fran stated in the pregame interview with Dolph that Patrick is done for the year and will petition for a medical hardship. Body just not ready for the rigors of D1 basketball....

Berta and the Iowa staff should take some notes on what Iowa's new Fieldhouse type arena should look like.

Mostly Mike G. He was mental at the line under pressure. Almost certain to miss the front end of 1 and 1. We've gotten used to Jordan hitting 90% and having the ball in his hands at the end of the game. Very reliable ball handler and great shooter in pressured situations.

3-5 / 4-4 is the likeliest outcome - and I was bullish on the non-con even after DePaul! The B1G is just a murderer's row, so balanced top to bottom. Even Northwestern is looking better - almost beat DePaul!
