Hawkeyes Next 8 B1G games

Berta and the Iowa staff should take some notes on what Iowa's new Fieldhouse type arena should look like.

Really? Capacity <9k, built in 1927.

Yes minus the 1927 part. I think it should be somewhere in the 11-12 range with a nice vertical pitch and made for sound.

The Corner of Burlington and Clinton would be perfect

How much can the AD mark you down for a donation to make this happen?

That corner is pretty much taken up by recent and planned construction.

Well, specifically the old mall area. The parking garage on that side isnt going anywhere as are the music building across the street and the new high rise. That leaves the Starbucks/Mill block or the Old Capitol Mall section to work with .

I think you would be surprised if they did a fund raising for this. But I also dont think money is really an option right now for our athletic department if they wanted to do something.

I think the Old Capital mall could be a great new place to house an arena for indoor sports (basketball, volleyball, wrestling, etc), if the University could get it and renovate it.

Plus the businesses in the vicinity would benefit from additional crowds before/after the games.

If Gabe and A White had another year of eligibility that 2015-2016 season we would've been a Final Four contender. Those guys were fun to watch
Just getting Gabe back would have been huge. Dumbest miskake ever made by Fran was burning Gabe's RS his Fr year for a few minutes.

Love the idea, but traffic and parking would be a nightmare.

I am intrigued by the PSU game at the Philadelphia Palestra, which I'm attending. It's not exactly a neutral court but I expect it will draw more hawk fans than just me and my crew, plus the Lions will have to travel to play this home game. Plus it's Fran's old home court! I like our chances.

We’re giving serious thought to flying out for it. Wouldn’t even think about it if it wasn’t the Palestra

Mostly Mike G. He was mental at the line under pressure. Almost certain to miss the front end of 1 and 1. We've gotten used to Jordan hitting 90% and having the ball in his hands at the end of the game. Very reliable ball handler and great shooter in pressured situations.

Wouldn’t be afraid to see Connor step up there in the pressure situations. Tough kid that doesn’t seem to get rattled

We can be favored in all but 2 or 3 games if we keep rolling, and keep our remaining top 8 healthy...

I'm betting on Garza and his King Kong mentality and physical strength towards the game. He is a beast!

Win, win, loss, win, revenge, win, win, loss. Michigan isn't going to win single teaming Garza again. Fran will take them out at home. We'll Get revenge against Maryland, and take them out in the B1G tourney. Boom!
Nobody is single teaming Garza the rest of the year.

Agree w.big grey. Cincy was not going to let him beat us. That being said, all the double and even a few times triple teaming left Joe W and CJ wide open for 3's. I'll take 3 over 2 all day long. (Yes, I know captain obvious.) Obviously very tough to handle Luka in the post by yourself. Fran has proven himself over the years to design offensive plays. The break comes at a pretty good time. We've ran through a gauntlet and now getting ready to run through another one once the conference starts back up again. I'd be incredibly happy at 10-10 this year as it will get us dancing. The home court has been huge, and let's hope Carver can be an advantage for us this year. We're going to need pretty much every home game as a win.

Not every team will double Garza. Iowa does play Michigan again. But he’s certainly established that every team will have to fashion a defense to account for him. What he’s doing is why teams recruit 5* centers.

I said the next 7 thread that you'll learn a lot about this team. You'll learn more in these next 8, it ain't a cakewalk for sure.

I don't care what their record is as long they beat Wisky.

I know what you are saying about Wisky. I hope for the teams sake that they are able to win enough games to make the dance again this year. This team deserves it.

Very doable 5-3...Michigan very winnable at home hoping to take 2 of my boys to that one.

We need some Paybacks to the pups from Ann Arbor. They shot like 90% from 3, in their home open v Iowa. That is NOT going to happen again, in front of a RAUCOUS, FILLED TO THE RAFTERS Carver.
(I hope) Go Hawks.......support these young men, by getting your butt to Carver.

The Palestra game is officially a sell-out now, FYI. Not to be a homer, but that is going to be an extremely tough atmosphere for Iowa to walk out of with a W. Beyond the fact that it is the Palestra and will be a pro-PSU crowd, Lamar and Mike are both going to be a little extra juiced up to be playing in their hometown, in front of friends and family, during their senior year.

I'm looking forward to a physical, hard-fought, injury-free game (FYI, PSU had a practice at the Palestra 2 days ago).

PSU will be favored and should be. Iowa has won in some very tough environments already this year. I expect a very close game that could go either way.

3-5 / 4-4 is the likeliest outcome - and I was bullish on the non-con even after DePaul! The B1G is just a murderer's row, so balanced top to bottom. Even Northwestern is looking better - almost beat DePaul!
I'm not going to be at all disappointed with 4-4. It is a brutal and competitive league. Injuries will probably have an impact. They've already hit us pretty hard, not sure of the impact so far on other teams but you know there will be.

Speaking of injuries, the PSU starting PG just took an elbow to the face and is now in street clothes on the bench with a towel over his face/head. Hopefully it's not a concussion and he is ready to go in 6 days.

Iowa won at IA State. Not going to see a more hostile environment than that on so I don't think that will help PSU. PSU has enough talent to win. That is the biggest obstacle.

I hope the PSU point guard is OK also. But, you might have come to the wrong site looking for injury sympathy.

I'd much rather have Iowa play PSU in a loud road environment with a lot of energy than the soul-sucking empty gym they usually play in.

Could definitely go either way. Hope it goes our way.

PSU is a pretty good team and this is going to require another strong effort to get a W.
