Hawkeyes offer Texas QB Peyton Mansell

Not sure what they're seeing in this kid. Are they looking for him to play a different position?

Looks pretty solid to me, pretty explosive runner and looks to have an above average arm. Put up some pretty good stats with 20 TD's and only 3 INT's not sure how good his competition is in his area of Texas but I imagine pretty darn good

Looks to have a solid arm, Good instincts in the pocket/feeling rush, Has CJ's mobility/ability to turn bad plays into good runs. Looks like an interesting prospect to me.

That looks like a D-I prospect to me. He won't be running out of the pocket like that in the BIG10 but he appears to have a nice presence and clock in his head. I like how he can throw across his body and he looks both fast and robust enough to run for the first down when needed. Some of those throws made me imagine what he might do with our type of TE.

BTW - It looked like he had a couplethree decent receivers he was throwing to.

Sign him up!

I'm wondering if Fields might be water under the bridge. The Eno projection didn't come through and now this offer. No info just a feeling.

I stopped being an expert on QB's the day after I was born. I will leave it up to the coaching staff to decide who is worthy of a schollie!

Does the staff not feel confident with Fields anymore or what?

Until somebody commits there is no reason to stop evaluating and offering players they like. Fields had a couple offers recently from Indiana and Minnesota. last I heard Fields and Greenwood are visiting Iowa in June.

With several Ivy league offers, it's a cinch ISU won't be signing him as a juco transfer in 3 years.

Pretty much all Ivy league schools so yeah pretty smart kid, also NDSU offer as well....after this years draft it appears they know a thing or two about QB play....interesting offer and the more I watched his film the more I liked him. I am glad we have several offers out to QB's so we are not putting all eggs into one basket and also put some pressure on for one of them to commit and help with recruiting efforts with AJ, Eno, and the rest. Might also help pull in a WR commit that is badly needed

My interpretation is that the staff has had more time to evaluate talent - more time to find guys who they like. If you look at the lead that Wiegers has over the competition ... the implication is that the starting QB gig won't be available any time soon. Thus, if they like a guy who might be more on the developmental side ... they have the freedom to take more risks on such a guy.

Thus, my best guess is that there are simply more QBs that have been on their board and they're offering them accordingly. If anything, it's good for other QBs we're in on to feel a bit more "heat" with regard to their decision making process.
