Alright guys need a little help. The wife's (no pic) car was parked in her friends driveway while they were hanging out (scrapbooking & wine). Well her friends husband comes home from work and wants to get the boat of the garage and my wife's car was supposedly out the way. She even offers to move it to the street and he says no, he can avoid it.

Welp didn't happen, the boat trailer smoked the front end of the car and dinged it up pretty good. He must of floored it pulling it out of the garage, her car is stuck in park now. I don't know how that could happen, but neither her, nor the husband get it out of park. So it got towed to a auto shop. He called his insurance and we called ours. The problem is it has taken almost 2 weeks and have not heard a thing from either company? Is this normal?

Your car is sitting in the shop for 2 weeks? Call your insurance company.

We have called and they say they are awaiting the report? what report are they talking about? The adjustor or whatever their called?

Lucky my in-laws live close and they have an old pick-up they use for yard work, so I'm cruising around town in that beauty.

Oh hell no. I'd be calling their insurance co. everyday.

That's ridiculous. They should be supplying a loaner car as well.

You should share the name of your insurance company
with HROT. This will prevent further business to an
unresponsive local agent as well as the company itself.

We have been calling, the problem is they are not returning our phone calls and they are not really communicating with us at all? We have been on the phone with our insurance people and they are doing all they can, but since it wasn't our fault, they say its in their hands. I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen to them?

You should have a rental the day it happened.

What shop is it at? Call them to see if they've filled a report/estimate.

We have been calling, the problem is they are not returning our phone calls Why is there a need to return your call? Don't give them that as an option. Call the local agent during business hours and stay on the phone with them until you get an answer. and they are not really communicating with us at all? Are you asking us this or telling us this? We have been on the phone with our insurance people and they are doing all they can, No they aren't, they can get on the phone with the other insurance company and do their job to help protect you. You pay them monthly, tell them to get this fixed or you'll find an insurance company who cares. but since it wasn't our fault, they say its in their hands. I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen to them?

Quit being passive and tell some people to get off their asses and get your car fixed. The fact that you don't have a rental car paid for by the other person's insurance is almost comical.

And really, you should out both insurance agents here because I dont' want anything to do with either.

The real test of an insurance company is their local agent.
The good agents are energetic and take the necessary
steps to help you immediately.

Do you have collision coverage? If so, your insurance should fix your car and go after the other Insurance co for the money. It's been about 50 years since I had a situation like this so maybe things have changed. Back then, a guy ran a stop sign and hit me. He had State Farm, who Never pay Anything, so my Independent Agent said I should just pay my deductible and fix it on my collision coverage and they would deal with SF. It's called subrogation.

I had another wreck about 40 years ago and that guy's ins co paid off right away and I've had no other claims since so I'm kind of out of date. I do know from other people I've talked to that a lot of the insurance companies who advertise their low rates on on TV ads are not worth a crap at paying. gotta pay for the TV ads some way, I guess. I am in effect using the same Independent Agent that my grandfather started using about 80 years ago.

Authorize your insurance company to fix it, just to get it fixed. Your insurance company will take up your cause in the meantime with their insurer.

This. Let your insurance company deal with theirs. And agree with the point that I wouldn't have waited this long. After 48 hours I would have been standing in someone's office and not leaving until resolved.

I'd bang all the friends while you wait for your car to be fixed, but that's just me.

Same thing happened to me a few years back, I would be on the horn with YOUR insurance agent twice daily!

Be sure to have a police report filled out, otherwise his insurance will low ball the settlement $$$ payout...

Well it was on private property where it happened. They didnt' call the cops because it was just an accident. I guess we didn't think it would be this big of an issue. He admitted fault to it and his insurance would take care of any damages. I guess we didn't think we needed the cops. From now on I will be calling the cops regardless.

One of my wifes employees had a fender bender and they chose not to call police. Someone else saw it and called it in. They both got a ticket for not reporting it, I think it was a $250 fine. You're situation may be different being on private property, but I would recommend calling in all accidents no matter how minor. CSB, I know.

What's that have to do with anything? In a lot of place (like any decent sized city) the police will not respond to an accident unless a car is blocking traffic or somebody is injured. Insurance still does it's thing minus a police report.
