There were a few times that Mike was wide open and passed up the shot.......once, he let go of a shot but only after he stood there and thought about it enough that it didn't end up being a good shot. I know he wants to be a distributor, but he needs to let go of the 3 pointer when it is wide open.......without thinking so much.......

And the kryptonite to that's philosophy is that they make those shots early.
This game mikey made them. His form doesn't look very good. I thought when he was Fresman he had better rotation.
you're just now noticing this? He has been hesitant on his outside shot his whole career. It probably has something to do with the fact that his shot from 19+ feet rarely goes in and he lacks confidence. Very good game from him last night. If he plays that way consistently this team can go a long ways.
Can't have it both ways. Either we want Mike to shoot or we don't. I thought he played a great game, except for one bad turnover in the second half.
I'm generally not a big fan of Mike shooting, but I agree. He is actually hitting 38% from the 3. I like Mike's midrange shot and if he is wide open I want him to take a 3. Where he gets into trouble is driving the ball to the hoop when it isn't there.
Id prefer him to shoot. He can knock them down and it gives Iowa another weapon. He's a 1000 point scorer for god sakes, hes more than capable.
I like Mike shooting the 15-18 ft jumper off the dribble, and I wish he would do it more. When we are playing against a team good enough to guard Jarrod and Pete well, that is one of our highest percentage shots. Not sure that most fans agree.
How can you be so athletic and never learn to shoot a proper jump shot? He jumps high and then releases ball too early, on the way up. If he releases on the top, his jumper would be thing of beauty. How come nobody ever worked on that with him? That is easy to fix.
You could say that Mike is a better shooter his senior year then Jeff Horner did in his so maybe Mike should keep shooting
