The district assignments are not out yet, propably will be soon.

But the the classifications list along with enrollment is out. Some of those numbers surprise me with some schools.

Osage at the top of 1A enrollment. Along with Wilton. Don Bosco near the bottom of # of students

96 teams in 2A. 121 or so in 1A.
I've always felt that at some point they should do a change about that.

Pretty sure Osage has been 1A enrollment wise for a while. Believe they opt to go to 2A. 121 1A schools is nothing new. There isn’t a large number of 1A schools that can fill a line-up. You see it every year where schools only have 4-5 guys. Combining programs to have somewhat of a full line up is the solution.

What change do you think should happen? Less 2A? More 2A?

Would either change make either class better, or would it be change for the sake of change?

My thought is
88 in 2a instead if 96, 8 more in 1A. Though mathematical it might not make sense as 12 districts 2 Qs is the format.
It would just make 1A better

Meanwhile all the schools surrounding the metro areas are getting bigger. With the demise of the family farm the smaller schools get smaller and the metro areas grow.

It’s all so screwed up now it doesn’t matter. I wasn’t thrilled when they went to 24 qualifiers a class but it makes sense to a point. Iowa has 7 classes of football which is ridiculous. It’s all about the almighty $
