This last few months I've been really pushing Buchanan to stick around. It just so happens that his gf (no pics) is a special Ed teacher in Wyoming. My wife (no pics) is a special Ed/behavior Disorder teacher. I passed along pay scales and information trying to recruit his GF to Iowa several weeks ago. Last night I was able to put her in touch with my wife, who would make a great mentor, and give her a familiar face if she joined the district. The gf mentioned something to my wife about moving here next year.

Getting to the point. I think there's at least an 83% chance he's staying in IC.

Teemer had a great speech. Said he wished he had been here all 4 years. He was crushed that his name won't be up on the wall. Really felt bad for him b/c you could tell he wanted it bad. He was all in up until the hamstring and then it was just a tough year for him. What was interesting is he alluded to sticking around for some freestyle hardware. I did not see that coming, and hope it's true.

Parco, ditto on wishing he had been here longer. Really talked about how it's such a family in the room and how he loved his experience. All 3 transfers couldn't compliment the program any higher. The common theme is how much of a family it is. How everyone genuinely cares about each other.

Red got the coaches appreciation award. Great kid.

Nobody was happy with 4th place. Tom challenged those who didn't AA to do what it takes to become AA's. He also mentioned the portal is open.

A shout-out to the team managers. Just a quick story this year. The ladies take care of the team laundry late at night for the post season. This year the laundry mat they sent the clothes to didn't get them dried. The ladies stayed up until about 6 am blow drying all of the clothes for the guys. They just go above and beyond every year. Such hard workers. And a lot of credit for Moriah for leading the great group of gals and always having them prepared to do a tremendous job.

Buchanan talked about how smooth the whole wrestling operation is ran down to the finest details. Said he's been to 3 Universities and nothing compares to how the operation is ran here. Words can't describe how impressed he's been with the program. The banquet was 2 hours. It ends with a 20 minute highlight video of the season. SB's and his gf thought that was really cool.

Anyone else feel free to add any take aways. The team didn't get what they wanted, but it wasn't for a lack of effort. Great group of guys.

Next events will be U20's and U23's I believe.

Glad to hear all 3 transfers wished they had been here longer. Hope Steve sticks around for a while, be great to have him work with ludington, Angelo, and the miller twins.

I spoke with a guy in Philly who knew the Arnold’s. He said one of the main reasons Gabe chose Iowa was the “family atmosphere””. He said Gabe thought the PSU room was split in groups. Olympians in one, all American's in another and everyone else separate.
