All I can say is that the Republicans are in trouble. They've thrown everything they have against Hillary, and she's still destroying every last GOP candidate by double digits. The general election could turn out nasty in all the wrong ways for the Republicans.

"Looking ahead to the general election, Clinton continues to hold significant leads over Bush (54% Clinton to 41% Bush) and Christie (56% Clinton to 37% Christie). She has also opened up wide leads over Rubio (56% Clinton to 39% Rubio) and Walker (57% Clinton to 38% Walker), as those two have slipped among independents. Clinton's clearest advantage, however, is over Donald Trump, 59% say they would vote for Clinton if the 2016 match-up were between her and Trump, 34% say they would back Trump."

Polls this early mean very little. Just ask Senator Braley.

Perhaps. But there seems little to get excited about these days for the GOP. They just got their asses handed to them on gay marriage and Obamacare. These are on the wrong side of history with just about every social issue. And the economy continues to do better and better. What is going to change to give them a chance?

Its July 1st - 17 months before the election. Nobody is paying attention to the presidential race a year and a half beforehand. What will change is people will start paying attention, willingly or unwillingly, and stop responding to polls based only on name recognition. Please don't start this same damn thread every week until it starts to matter. They have to fight themselves first before they fight each other.

It's my belief she will be the next POTUS. I believe DanL's proposed 3rd party is the only one who could defeat her. IMHO, as much as 60% of the country is not on the extreme right or left, and would love a reason to vote for someone who's neither Democrat nor Republican, and would simply like to see the voice of reason rule the day.

I don't think the country's ready for the voice of reason yet. We need to head further into the rabbit hole before we figure it out a little.

I'll grant you. Your average vote isn't paying much service to polls right now. But that still doesn't mean that these polls cannot be foretelling of all the problems the GOP will have in the future. The current GOP platform is a regressive one. They want to take the country backwards on gay marriage, healthcare, education, and pretty much every other issue you can think of. "Going backwards" is not a very compelling message. The party openly supports discrimination, wants to take away the healthcare of millions, and wants to let our infrastructure crumble to make sure the rich get even more tax breaks. Plain and simple, it's a platform that the public doesn't seem to support anymore.

You can bash the polls all you want, but they are redflags for the GOP. They are falling more behind the Democrats every week. And there doesn't seem to be much the Republicans will be able to do about it.

These polls mean nothing when there is really only one Democratic candidate and like 20 Republican ones

Man the people in this country are mindless, idiot sheep. Sad. She will undoubtedly be the next president. This country doesn't really choose presidents anymore, they just do what they are told.
Yes they are, the fact that Hillary is the most preferred choice is a tragedy, not a triumph.

Really?? The economy? How is that stock market working out lately? Time will tell but the smart money is no 3rd term for the Marxist.

I'm not even convinced that Hillary will be the Democratic candidate at this point. There are a lot of similarities to 2007 in the Democratic field right now.

Do you mean the S&P being up 50% over the past 3 years? Or up 100% over the past 5? Wait, you're not one of those guys that thinks it is his God given right to get a 12% return every year so the assumptions in his 401k projections won't get F'd up, are you? Aww, that's so cute...

So what does it say about the democrats that she's beating the closest I e by 60 points?

I don't feel sorry for Hillary but I do feel sorry for her supporters. Other than evil crap, what has she ever done?

I would be concerned Huey, she went from 69% support in April to 57% support in the latest poll and she did not even say anything during the 3 months in between.

She is gambling that the MSM will continue to give her a free pass. She might be right.

Hillary Clinton does not have the physical stamina to
compete in the Presidential election in 2016. Her body
cannot endure the rigors of a campaign against a
Republican candidate who might be 15 to 20 years
younger. The American public will not vote for a 70 yr
old woman who is getting ready to meet her Maker
at the mortuary.

My sportsbook has prop bets on politics, and all you really need to know is the democrats are winning the next presidential election, and Hilary is a landslide for the democratic nominee. Bush is the favorite for the republican side.

Now, I don't care who you are... if you truly believe the two best people we have to be our next POTUS are related to former President(s), then you deserve what is coming down the road in a few years.

Doubt Hillary will even be running......can she run in a prison cell?

Yep. I think Bernie is going to carve her up. He doesn't have much of a "money chance", but he's going to make her look bad.

I heard he filled an arena in WI a day or two ago. A month ago, 99% of the nation never heard of him.

If you guys are confident she won't be the nominee, you can win something like 4 to 1 on your dollar wagered. I'll look again tonight as maybe recent news has pushed the odds back a bit.

But no matter what, it would be a fairly big surprise to see a republican win the presidential election.

I know you don't really analyze anything, but polls pitting someone who has constantly been in the news for 20 years vs a bunch of people maybe currently only familiar to people in their own area is nothing to brag about. But hey, you don't have a day job, right?

For those that are confidently predicting a Hillary runaway...I would be curious to see the polling in 2007, about 17 months in front of the Dem primary...you know, the one where Barack Obama was trailing her substantially, yet managed to, kaff kaff, squeak out a win over her to get the nomination. Point being...for crying out loud, it is a year and a half before the election, these polls are meaningless at this time.

That being said...any Dem has a big advantage right now for the presidential election. With New York, California and Illinois, to name just a few biggies, being so solidly in the "blue" category now, they effectively start out with a huge lead in the electoral race, which is tough to combat for the "R's".

There is still plenty of time for ol' Hill to sink herself when she opens her yapper or some real skeletons are revealed. At this point, she is fading in her own party and she has barely been within 100 yards of a microphone in a couple of months now. There's still time, there's still time...

Agreed, I think the prospect of the two "legacy" candidates squaring off against each other is as sad a commentary on our country as there could be.

I wouldn't call a vote from revisionist renegade judges over an issue getting your asses handed to you...now if it went before the people as it should have the results may well have been different.

I'm not confident like that, but I think the race will be a lot closer than most people think. Really, I'm hoping Bernie's candidacy will make Hillary a better candidate.

What's really funny about this is the legion of neo-con disciples on this board who are petrified of Hillary Clinton. Even if she were to be president, the actual policies she'd back, sign into law, and suggest would be in alignment with THEM! Hillary is a Neo-Con with her Tenderfoot badge, at least, easily.
