Did anyone go to the game last night? Was it full? It was hard to tell on TV.

I was going to be pretty happy to win 3 of 4 at Carver. This team is showing some serious stones. Haven’t had that in a long while.

I would have said 14,000. Once the game started there was a small pocket at the top behind each hoop. By small pocket I’m talking too two or three rows with only a few people each.

Right before tip (during the intros) there were several pockets throughout the arena, especially mid court.

I was there. Very good crowd but not full. I was 12 rows behind Wisconsin bench. Not sure how the crowd sounded on TV but I didn't feel it was extremely loud in Carver.

There were moments when it sounded loud, especially toward the end of the game. I'm sure people were pretty nervous, I know I was.

I was just thinking the other day that there is literally ONE road atmosphere in this conference that I would not consider overly hostile - Northwestern. Depending on how strict you are, you could throw in PSU as lacking, too, I guess. The obvious ones that have been historically tough (Indiana, Illinois, MSU, Purdue, etc.) are still tough, and places like Minnesota, Nebraska and Rutgers are even having full and LOUD crowds. Carver has seriously stepped up its game from a few years ago. It must be the design, but it can get really loud, even if the crowd isn't full.

There really wasn’t a whole lot to get loud about outside of the final six or seven minutes. A few times after an Iowa basket, the crowd came to its feet and got loud. WI then went down and scored. That happened a few times.

There have been some games in CHA that get loud throughout (Michigan last year). If the ILL game is close and Iowa is playing well (unlike last night) it will be a great atmosphere. Over the years though, some of the most energetic games at CHA have been NIT games. I can’t explain it but I’ve never felt a game like the Dayton game in Fran’s second year. The only thing close was the TCU game a few years back.

I remember that Dayton game. That sounded BANANAS on TV. Unreal.

Are NIT games cheaper? That would explain a lot....$35 for a corner seat up top even during a snowstorm is kind of ridiculous. It would be packed every time if Tix were $10-20 and students and faculty got in free like wrestling but then they probably couldn't help pay for the non revenue sports. But wrestling fans will continue to take jabs at basketball crowds I'm sure.

Let's pack Carver for the rest of winter sports season....they all deserve it

It’s hard to remember but I want to say the TCU game was $20. I can’t remember if students were discounted or not. Maybe $10 for students?

I can’t believe that Iowa doesn’t change their prices per section. It’s crazy to think that section A row 10 (if available) is the same price as section II row 40.

Yep, I was at the Dayton game and it was LOUD AF!!!!!!!!

Man, when Gatens walked off the CHA floor for the last time..... I still get teary eyed thinking of that.

Basabe’s reverse dunk. White’s run out dunks. That game seemed to have a lot of action which I’m sure helped.

It was a warm March day and you could just feel the buzz even before the game. Iowa had finally come back a little after the Lickliter years.

It was also gorgeous out that day. I remember leaving work early and drinking steins of Blue Moon at Old Chicago to pre-game. It was a great atmosphere for Matt Gatens' final home game.
Nice work, I love parking at OC, getting lubed up and walking up, usually what I do when I go to games too without kids.

Gatens senior year there were several games in Carver that were pretty dang loud. That team was not very talented but Gatens played out of his mind down the stretch and we beat some really good teams. Free admission for students plus free pizza and ice cream, and they had a couple different bobblehead nights help get the place packed. I'm hoping they do that again, I think the Athletic Department can make some room in their budget. This team deserves all our support
