That actually wouldn't start until after the 2026 season because he's signed thru the 2029 season. It actually expires on 1/31/30. I'm guessing he and Beth will negotiate rolling 1 year extensions, with no buyout, assuming he's still successful moving forward.

If the 2025 season is Kirk's final year, could he end it the same way he started his career in conference play.......winless? Oregon, Penn State, Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota all at home. Maybe Michigan St and Minnesota could be wins. Nebraska, Rutgers, Wisconsin, and USC on the road? The QB situation in Iowa City is not the best.

A lot can happen over spring and winter. I have no idea what Iowa’s NIL budget looks like or how the transfer portal will shake out. I am pretty confident Iowa will not go winless in the conference next year, though.

To be reasonably competitive, the Iowa offense has to get playmakers and has to get major OL help. Tim Lester’s offensive system is fine, IF he’s allowed to run it how he sees fit. I know Chad L tweeted about Ferentz giving free reign to Lester, but who knows the dynamic of their relationship and how game plans are actually developed and scripted. I just know Iowa was once again way too conservative on offense and that needs to change. Nothing crazy, but punting around midfield on 4th and inches in a game you aren’t expected to win is ridiculous.

Oh, and the secondary has to get a lot better.
