Honas to Nebby

I try not to pay attention to recruiting anymore because I get too invested and I wish I would've stayed away now. Honas is a badass and would have filled right in. The sucktitude of his commitment is super high in my world. Dude is a freak. I wish him no luck or success until the next level.

Haha - Nebby's a bunch of snowflakes!!!

I know. I watched us play them the last 3 years.

Every kid makes decisions based on what they feel is best for them. Undoubtedly, Iowa is not the best place for a lot of, or even most college football players. That said, I think Honas probably made a poor decision, in a purely football sense. A couple years from now I could proven completely wrong?

Hopefully it works for everybody.

Diaco wasn’t the issue. You had no talent. Mediocre Mike recruiting

You're a flat out idiot! Talk to the players, and you'll know that Diaco didn't know crap. He had our DLine coach teaching just a bull rush. The single worst coach we've ever hired. Even worse than Riley, which I didn't think was humanly possible.

You say we like you had a hand in the process of hiring him. When it comes down to it, Riley hired him so it’s on Riley making him even worse than thought.

A lot of things could contribute to why he decided to be a Cornhusker. Scott Frost name has been all over lately. Coach of the year. The massive success he has had at Oregon and UCF. Now at a name brand school like Nebraska momentum is rolling good in Frost favor. I mean we had a horrible looking class when he arrived and it’s top half now. Obviously nothing special but the class is in solid shape considering he had 3 weeks to get things in order before early signing period. Frost also seems to be a genuinely good guy to play for.

Word of warning,.... Todd Lickliter was Coach of the Year when he took the job in Iowa City....

Frost DID take a 0-12 UCF team to 6-7 in his first year and 12-0 in his second year, so not sure why it would take a year and a half for momentum to start to kick-in. He and his staff have already proved they can turn around a team quickly. Won't happen next year, but 6-6 is possible and then make a jump in 2019 with a friendlier schedule. Not sure why Honas picked NU, but happy he did. Also, happy I don't have to see him play against NU and blowing fools up. Day one started and huge upgrade.
Frost left a top 10 ranked team for what? A hope and a prayer that he can help Debby return to its former greatness? Or did he leave for the money?

UCF is in the AAC (ACC East ranking 13 best Conference Division in the Country) , this years 12-0 Strength of Schedule was 83rd ranked in the country, they played no games against the top 10 or the top 30. This is a schedule he will not enjoy ever again, even in the Big Ten West (especially considering the improvement of Purdue and Minnesota).

UCF resides in they greatest hotbed of recruiting in the Nation, offering practically everything he needed inside a 2 hr drive from campus. Everything he could use to his advantage in recruiting at UCF will work against him in Lincoln. Still, lets say he does better than Riley recruiting. With a new system and a new culture and all the transfers that go with it, to be fair (which is not a Nebraska Fan's strong point), it will take at least two years for the current personnel and 2018 and 2019 recruiting classes with a liberal dose of JUCOs to solidify a year 3 Big Ten West contender.

We will see if he can go 6-6 (3-6) in his first year, my money is against it.

Don't know his history...why the juco route if he is supposedly so good? Grades, injuries, etc?

His star QB is from Hawaii.

He didn't land the big fish in Florida. At UCF, you can't do that. He landed Florida recruits that mostly were not offered by UF, FSU or Miami. Many of those m types of Florida athletes will come to Nebraska. Iowa has also had much success with Florida players who were overlooked by the big 3 in FLA.

Yes...all of the above. Its rare that 1 year in JUCO equals "1 year in program". JUCCOs ae plan B or C, emergency replacements.

You guys, its not Nebraska's talent. Nebraska gave up over 50 pts to fing Minnesota and to Iowas crap offense.

Nebraska would have to have like NAIA talent in order to justify that from a talent perspective. Those 2 offense were complete and utter trash.

Interesting position you are taking, accepting players open criticism/blaming of there coaches instead of being accountable for their own performance, without questioning the character of the player. I get that the buck stops with the coaches, but the situation Bobby was brought into, with "1 year defensive turn around" expectations under Riley's already dissolving position at Nebraska was impossible as it turned out, considering the toxic environment he found himself with the head coach on the way out, alumni players close to the program and the Nebraska fan base looking for heads to roll. It sounds like there was plenty of blame to go around, player and coach alike. But, you don't see it that way. Interesting.

It takes 2-3 years minimum to install a 3-4 Defensive scheme and culture even when your existing players completely buy in and are willing to start from the beginning, committed to relearning everything from the bottom up, while you recruit 3-4 players you need.

So, maybe you did see Bobby at a rocky point in his career and it's safe to say, his future as a coach now is in question, but it does not negate what he has accomplished in his career as a coach and that Bobby is a quality young man.

This is a sad situation for Bobby and Nebraska where the classy thing to do is to simply part company as amiably as possible, passing no more hurtful judgement then "we have decided to go in a different direction".

That fact is Riley was a bad fit for Nebraska. Its simple as that. You are attempting to make Diaco into some sort of scapegoat, and that's not necessary. Its just not fair.

Maybe teaching them a bull rush as they have never been taught before. Also one maybe at your IQ capacity.
