Lost in all the coverage about the Longshoremen, the UniteHere! hotel workers strike is ongoing. I dodged it while I was in Hawaii but it's a permanent picket line now.
Thinking about this situation, I believe that this sort of activity should be unlawful at a hotel. A hotel isn't just a workplace. Under most state laws, a hotel is the "residence" of all the guests.
Work stoppage? That's fine. But a picket line harassing guests? That's not fine. This is not a factory or a loading dock. We're talking about people's (temporary) homes!
And there are surrounding hotels that are being disrupted and they have nothing to do with this dispute. That shouldn't be allowed to happen.
Who's with me on this?
